RV's anyone???
We have checked into http://www.escapees.com/index2.asp They provide many services for fulltimers. We currently still own our home but have met people who have been happy with this group and became Texas residents. MerryRN

12 hr shifts
I have also talked to some other nurses who do "self Scheduling 12 hour shifts" But not sure how that works.

12 hr shifts
The hospital I work for has what they call a "matrix". It's 84 (4 hours are OT) hours every 2 weeks. The schedule repeats. If I work Mon Tues then I'm off Wed Thurs. Work FRI Sat Sun then off Mon Tue. It's the first schedule that I have ever had where I could make a Dentist appt ahead of time.

Nurses, do you routinely do beds and baths?
I will be working with another RN for 4-6 weeks. Some places offered to let me go through the new grad orientation (which I thought would be great).

Nurses, do you routinely do beds and baths?
I am returning to hospital nursing after 7 years as a school nurse. I have been told that the pt to nurse ratio is 6 with the aide doing 2 of the bathes and helping with I & O's ect. When I left the hospital 8 yrs ago I had an aide with me for 9-10 patients. That was why I changed to school nursing.

Kansas City area anyone?
I'm from Kansas City and it is a wonderful place to live (I got my RN training there). I now live in Texas where my husband is from. But I was just up visiting as my mom had a knee replacement. She was at Baptist Memorial Hospital in March. As mentioned above, HCA has just bought out Health Midwest and the nurses were very uncertain about what changes were going to occur. What I noticed was North Kansas City was growing rapidly as was Johnson County Kansas. Also part of Kansas City Kansas was developing a new resort area. Have you thought about taking a travel position to check out the area.
