  1. What a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!! Angels on earth!!
  2. I believe it's on the receipt or invoice they send with the materials... at least that's what they told me on the phone when I couldn't find mine either. LOL If you don't see it there call them and they will email it to you. Good luck!!
  3. Have you checked out ratemyprofessors.com to see what your micro prof is going to be like? Most of the reviews are pretty bang on. All teachers aren't listed but for the most part you can find yours. Good luck!! I take micro in the fall. I've heard it's better than A&P I&II.
  4. I have a couple of questions for you Riverside veteran peeps. :) I scheduled my TEAS for the second week in August. My 10 credits are completed, my chem is passed, and I will finish the rest of my pre-reqs this summer and fall for Jan 2011 start date (praying they accept me). Do you have to have the TEAS completed to receive any type of acceptance, conditional or otherwise, or will they give you a cond. acceptance before you have taken the TEAS? Should I reschedule my TEAS for sooner? Also, how long after submitting your packet did you hear back with an answer?? Thanks so much all!! :) Katie
  5. Yeah when I saw yours I thought OMG I haven't talked to you in FOREVER!! I went back to my PMs and found your last message. haha. Thanks for the heads-up on the TEAS score. I have heard that some schools only require a 67.1% to pass!!!!
  6. Hey there!! You and I have talked a few times about Riverside.... I am still planning on applying next month. I think asked to take the TEAS in august. I went to atitesting.com and ordered the study guides and the online assistance as well. How are your pre-reqs and such coming along? Did you say you were doing the evening/wknd program as well?
  7. Thanks for all the advice everyone.... I ended up enrolling in an in-class class and changed it to Algebra II and then I'll have to take Micro, A&PII and college algebra in the fall which I didn't want to do, but the registrar at the school I want to apply into "recommended" I have college algebra as one of my pre-reqs. Blah!! But again thanks for the advice. :)
  8. Does anyone know what is the minimum passing score for the TEAS at Riverside?
  9. Awesome!!! I hope I am as lucky.... just realized I am not taking developmental math but fundamentals of mathematics... sounds like it will be easy enough but who knows :) Thanks for your reply. :)
  10. Stacey, I am going to assume you are coming 64 East???? If so you will follow 64 East to 664South. To get to my section of Western Branch you would take the Portsmouth Blvd East exit (11B). The other half of Western Branch you would take a closer exit which is Pughsville East. If you can send me a PM I can give you my email and phone number and I can get some names of nice apartment complexes. Not sure how to send a PM yet... LOL going to try to do a PM now. If you don't get one then send me one. :)
  11. I live in the Western Branch section of Chesapeake and I love it!!! Good luck!! Oh the commute time to CHKD from Western Branch is about 15-30 minutes depending on the amount of traffic. It's not bad... everything is about 20 minutes from Western Branch LOL. (ok well the ocean front is more like 35 - 45 but it's worth the drive) :)
  12. Hi Everyone!! I just had a question. I just need one college level Math as my last pre-req for my nursing school application. I chose developmental math. Has anyone taken any of their math classes online? How was it? Thanks so much!!! Katie
  13. Do you work for Riverside while you are in their LPN program?
  14. Thanks so much for responding. :) I am going to have to apply to the evening/weekend program. As much as I would love to quit my job and go to the day program I just can't. I am praying I can get into the Jan 2011 program. My email address is (email removed per website TOS) if you want to stay in contact. Maybe we can help each other out in Chem too.
  15. ylwbtrfly84... I am also looking to apply in May for the Jan 2011 class. When you talked to the admissions office did they say that Chem 1 would satisfy the Chem requirement? I believe that is considered high school chem and although it is a pass/fail course in order to pass you must receive a 70% © or higher. What chem are you taking? I am taking a Saturday class in Chesapeake. Good luck!!!
  16. I have been taking between 8 and 10 credit hours so that works out to about 3 classes per semester... this fall coming up is A&PI, History 102 and CPR (which is only a 1 credit course). I also work full time, but I work at home. Like you I have an 18 year old, a 17 year old and a 15 year old and a very supportive husband!! Good luck.
  17. Oi good luck... I didn't know you could take both together.... I am taking A&P this semester and Micro next. I was too scared to take both together... didn't think I would have enough study time available... I already feel like I don't have a life LOL... keep us posted on how you are doing.
  18. Yep I am taking it in the fall.... classes start Aug 20th. I just finished my summer semester tonight. I also just ordered Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards... I had a good recommendation for them. I have all of my texts for A&P I&II. Good luck and let me know how you are doing. Also I am only taking History along with it this fall and a day and a half long CPR class that I need to complete for my nursing program application. You will do fine... I have also heard as long as you can remember things well you will do great. Katie
  19. Actually I was just looking at A&P I and you are correct it does require BIO 100 or such as a pre-req so I think I should probably stick with BIO... although I could take both in one semester but not sure if that would be wise. Have you taken both?
  20. WOW how sad that we've arrived to the point in our world where we have to worry that a nice gesture would be considered weird or unappreciated. If it's something you want to do, do it. It's just cookies and pound cake.
  21. OK I have a question... I went to the nursing program orientation meeting tonight and here's my dilemma. I was going to take Human Bio before A&P I... but after talking to a couple of the LPNs in the orientation class they said they took Med Term before or while taking A&P I and passed with As. I am enrolled in BIO 100 but have time to drop it and add Med Term instead... can anyone throw their 2 cents in as well with their own experiences? I want to change it tomorrow. thanks so much!!
  22. ok great. :) what do you think of the program? Do you already have a job set up? I guess basically anything you can think of that might be helpful. I have quite a bit of pre-reqs to take but would like to gather as much info from students from each program as possible. thanks so much for replying. :nuke:
  23. hey flmom... :) thanks so much for your reply. :) I have a 17 yo daughter a senior in HS (can't believe that) a 16 yo daughter a junior and a 15 yo son who is a Freshman (he missed the kindergarten birthday cutoff by a week so we kept him in preschool an extra year) I get worried sometimes that I getting too late of a start. What was your first year like? You are all done with your pre-reqs? Any advice? Things to look out for in any particular class? My sister-in-law and brother-in-law are both nurses at Shands down in Gainesville... what part of FL are you in? I would PM all these ??? if I knew how.... LOL but I can't figure it out yet. :icon_roll
  24. Hi all.... I just enrolled at our local CC to start my pre-reqs... :) I am a 36 (almost 37) year old mom of three high school teenagers. Scared to death of going back to school but way more excited than scared. I will hopefully be in the fall nursing class of 2010 which seems like forever away but I'm sure it will go by fast. Oh I'm in the Tidewater area of VA...so I'll be going to TCC. My classes this semester are English 111, Biology 100 and Intro to Healthcare. :) Have a great day!!!
  25. Hi Amy... thanks so much for your great replies... I enrolled at tcc today for my pre-reqs and at this point my plan is to apply to the TCC school for nursing... I really want my ADN and then move onto BSN. I feel somewhat premature as I am just now starting on my pre-reqs and won't be eligible to apply to the school until Spring of 2010. That feels so far away but I guess it's really just 18 months. I am almost 37 (next month) and I reckon if everything goes along smoothly I'll just be past 41 when I graduate.. sheesh that sounds old to me... but I know when I get there I won't feel old.... my husband will be able to retire in the fall of 2010 so I should be ok to do the day program at TCC since I won't have to worry so much about holding down a FT job here at home. What do you love most about being a nurse? What was your hardest class at TCC? My neighbor who is also a nurse mentioned that pharmacology was wretched!! And thanks again so much for the great replies. :heartbeat
