  1. I am a brand new nurse. Just past boards on March 19, 2008. I work on a ORN unit. Last week, I had my first patient die (DNR). 94 years old, Family left 10 minutes before. I was with her (first time I witnessed a death). Last night, I witnessed a Code Blue (not my patient). I just stood out of the way and watched (several experienced nurses were there). I am so afraid that when one of my patient's codes, I may freeze. I hear that your instincts take over. How true is this?
  2. My husband and I agreed that I would be a stay-at-home mom. After my youngest started kindergarten, I decided to work for the school system (in the special education department) so I could continue to be home with them when they did not have school. Then I decided to pursue a dream of mine - to be a nurse. One reason was to have a rewarding job and second for a descent income. After struggling for almost 15 years, my family can finally breath and enjoy the advantages of a two person income. In my situation, the money helps but you also have to have the right heart to be an RN!!
  3. It usually takes 2 days to get the quick results. I took my exam at 8:00 a.m. and my results were up 2 days later by 8:00 a.m. Good Luck!!!!
  4. I agree. Those are very nasty things to say! The NCLEX is a test to wean out the good from the bad. I failed the first time with 265 questions.. I had questions about things I never heard of. The same with the 2nd time, which I passed. Maybe you need to regroup. Take some time off. But the NCLEX is only doing their job. When you become an RN, with the attitude you have, how are you going to care for people who are relying on you? If they are in pain, need a shoulder to cry on, or dying are you just going to say **** off and leave them? Get rid of your attitude, pull yourself together, and regroup. If this is truly something you want to do in life, it will happen. A little prayer won't hurt either!
  5. Hi everyone. Took the test today. It was the worse test ever. I felt like I was doing half way decent but the computer just kept going and going. It finally shut off at 210. I don't know how to take it. Anyone have any ideas?? This wait is going to be so hard!
  6. I used ATI to study, got 265 questions on NCLEX and failed. The questions on NCLEX were 10x harder than ATI. I'm very upset that I used ATI to study. I will now be using Kaplan. I like having the rationales right after answering a question. But that is just me. Good luck!
  7. I had a lot of medication questions, which of course is my worse subject, and alot of prioritizing. I feel like I got screwed by the tech because they told us "how good" ATI was.
  8. I guess I am grasping at straws. I was using a program that my tech college recommended for studying for the NCLEX, called ATI. According to all the tests I took, I should have had no problems passing the NCLEX. The questions ATI had were nothing like the NCLEX. The NCLEX was 10x harder. I do not recommend ATI to anyone. Anyway, I had 265 questions and according to the quick results, I failed. Does anyone know if the quick results were ever wrong?
