I Contracted HIV
Sarah, I was recently stuck myself and have since been tested every couple months. I have my last test this month and am nervous about the results. I am currently a nursing student and wouldn't know what I would do if the test comes back positive. I am thinking of you and hope for the best for your future. There are many non-profit organizations out there to support you in getting back to a "normal" life as well as introducing you to alternative meds/treatments. Best wishes

Can RN student take the LPN test?
I live in Az and I am currently a block 3 RN student that will also graduate in May 2009. I took my LPN exam over the summer, our instructors actually encourage it just in case something like this happens. Let me know if you need more info, Good luck

What do you do right now?
I too have found that it is difficult to get into any hospital position. I did however just land a job as a PCA. My experience has been that it is all who you know, not so much what you know or how long you have been doing it. I filled out over 15 applications for different positions with Banner online and was turned down for every last one of them. My suggestion is to go in to the facility you want to work at and let them put a face to a name, if you have friends that work at a hospital ask them to put in a good word for you. I was shocked to see how hard it was to get a job even after I put on my resume that I am a current nursing student, given the significant shortage. To get back to what the original question is, I am a certified pharmacy tech and work 24 hours a week (fri - sun). I am a block II nursng student and attend class m - th. I decided to go into nursing because as a young girl I always said I was going to be a doctor, nursing is much faster!

Is it worth locking yourself into Banner for 3 years?
When I was was accepted to 2 different nursing schools the decision for me was cost and school reputation. As a nursing student at MCC I have heard the nurses at our clinical sites give their opinion of nursing students from the different programs. My last clinical rotation was at a Banner facility and I loved it, however, the clinical manager on the floor I was on was not speaking very highly of the Banner Fellow group that was there on the opposite days as us. I don't want to sound bias or anything but I have heard from numerous nurses that they would rather have an MCC nurse working with them over a nurse from any other program. I don't in any way want to bring down you excitement, but if this is what you are going to be doing for the majority of your life I would worry more about getting a quality education than finishing quickly.

Oncology nurse extern...Any tips?
NTB, I am not actually a nurse yet. I am about half way thru my program and so I will be an extern. I am not exactly sure if this is really what I want to do yet which is one of the reasons I posed the question. I do however feel strongly attracted to helping those with life altering illness' and possibly facing death. I am sure I will eventually end up in hospice but would like to get experience in the hospital setting first.

Oncology nurse extern...Any tips?
I am a soon to be oncology nurse extern and am not really sure what I am getting myself into. The unit I will be on also has a BMT ICU so I will be in both places. Any tips or suggestions to make my transition from med-surg clinicals a little easier? I am a just finishing block II of IV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

100% dosage calculations?
my school requires us to score 100% each semester, we had a test the first day of classes and had to score 100% to be able to pass meds. Don't worry your not the only one!
