  1. nice to hear. I am in Cayman islands still.
  2. pickles27, Don't have an experience in the Philippines. I graduated in 2006, a second courser. However, I started to work in the surgical unit of Cayman Islands Health Services Authority in april 2008 - present. I basically just listed scenarios that I encountered in my everyday job in the hospital that corresponds to the topic being asked in the equivalency form. I have also sent them all the certificates I have for all the seminars I have attended for my continuing education...which is actually quite a lot.
  3. from the Philippines here. did fill out this form and was found to be eligible in the end. I can now take the CRNE.
  4. Try Philppine Women's University (PWU). They offer a great program specifically tailored for 2nd coursers. During our times, they have a 2-year program for 2nd coursers regardless of your previous course. Be reminded though that you need to be a full-time student. so if you are working and you think you can' quit your job, then this is not for you. But if you are really ready to do some serious studying for two years, then this is the school for you. Another good thing about this school is they do not manipulate the hours required for your clinical exposure. They will really see to it that before you graduate and finish the course that you have already finished and completed the number of clinical exposure required in the nursing curriculum approved and mandated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for a BSN course in the country. And take note also of the fact they operate on trimestral basis that's why the entire program duration seemed to be rather short. But it is really the pacing that is fast. For my two cents now, regardless of the bad news others might say regarding the practice of nursing in our country, I firmly believe that our country is still the best, and will still be the best producer of nurses worldwide. Why? Remember TLC? =) It is innate in us and only us can genuinely give this to the patients. It is the Filipino values of being humble, patience, perseverance and compassionate that will pull us through amidst the trials the nursing profession is facing now in our country.
  5. 1. What are the materials that you used? Lippincott Made Incredibly Easy for my comprehensive Review. Saunders is also highly recommendable. For the Q&A part, I used Lippincott Q&A made incredibly easy, Saunders' Q&A, Kaplan, NCSBN, and a lot of NCLEX Cd Reviewers. 2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day? Me and my friend usually start studying at 9pm until 5am. We do it in a coffee shop or just along baywalk. If you are a sleepy person, then this study habit/ studying outside your home might be useful for you. 3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam? a couple and a half months 4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam? a. ABC b. maslow c. nursing process d. prioritization be keen in eyeing key words int he questions. 5. Take one or take two? first try. computer stopped at 75.
  6. My application got delicned by the NZNC saying my academic backgroud didn't match the scope of nursing practice in NZ. Weird part is I have several classmates who's applications got approved, and to think they don't have any post nursing experience yet whereas I have several already, and again, to think that i have already passed my NCLEX whereas they don't have it yet. In conclusion, I would say that the NZNC's way of evaluating an application is very arbitrary. So those planning to go to NZ, be careful. You might have the money, paid your agency and completed all the required documents already only to find out in the end that your application is declined by the NZNC.
