  1. When we did F and E it was taught the first day of class and was the last module test of the semester....go figure.... 12 clinicals arent bad, but i also have 150 hours of precptorship to do. which is 12.5 days. Itll be ok though,Im doing 8 of those this month, and Ill finish the rest in March. Anyway, gotta go remember how to work all these dosage problems for the test! oh , about the test and clinicals, time management, you'll learn how to get it all done.
  2. Hey Sandi, Im also in my last semester. They never waste time. One of our groups had clinicals last wednesday. Id much rather have them early in the semester and get finished before finals. I have 9 next month. We only have 12 this semester. But Im ok with that. I wont be doing clinicals up until the day before finals this time!Good luck with everything, if ya need any help let me know. Are you taking 105 and 106? Nice to meet you as well.
  3. I was kinda nervous about nursing school because I felt like I wasnt smart enough. You would be surprised just how "smart" you are when you apply yourself. I have never been so determined to do something in all my life. Now I have 4 months of school left! I have done well and granted sometimes I do feel stupid, but nevertheless I have made it through this, and it was by luck, it has been lots of hard work.
  4. Hi all, I am currently an LPN almost finished with my ADN!! Graduate in May! I am working on ADN at CACC, seen a few more folks on here that have attended CACC. I am planning in the future to pursue the step program at JSU. But for now I gotta get finished with this and work a little. Hope everyone is doing well!
  5. My first job was LTC. I am still there. I never saw myself working in a nursing home, but once I started and with each day I do really like it. I have been there for a year. I adore some of my residents, and it makes me feel good when they tell me they are so happy that I am their nurse for the day or night. I am also in school(RN) I willbe finishing in May. I learned very quickly that it has helped me espically with meds. Over the year, I have learned my residents, their ways, and their medicines. I have got plenty of experience in some things. I would suggest taking the position, not volunteering. You didnt go through all the schooling not to use it. You will get more from working at a LTC than you think. And it can be very rewarding. One of my residents is a retired RN. I love talking to her and hearing about how nursing was in "her day". I also heard many horror stories about LTC, I have not experienced any of them though. Go check out the facility and ask questions, meet the staff. I wish you the best in which ever decision you go.
  6. you will be mentally stressed. you will be emotionally challenged. you will learn how to work together. you will learn to work alone. you will learn when to speak. you will learn when to be silent. you will learn when to lead. you will learn when to follow. you will be constructively criticized. you will be praised. you will shed a few tears. you will share in each other's laughter. you will learn the need to help eachother. you will learn to help yourself. you will learn to be part of a group. you will learn to be yourself--an individual. you will learn responsibility. you will learn disipline. you will learn these things because someday someone's life will depend on you. you are a nursing student you will graduate------ you will be, in all it's wonder and glory, a nurse. author unknown
  7. I to have only been a nurse for a year. I am an LPN and I started working in a nursing home Jan.3 2006. I am almost finished with school and come may and after I pass NCLEX I willfinally be an Rn!!! The past year for me has been hard. At first, and most of the year, I really didnt like my job, but for some reason I didnt look for another. I Never felt like a Nurse there( just the pill lady) until Last month. I had my first code and I completely amazed myself. After it was over, I went over and over in my head what I had done. I actually knew what to do!! Come May I will be leaving that nursing home and hopefully going to critical care( what I have always wanted to do, love it in clinicals) I hope I surprise myself again once I am finished with school and actually know something. Congratulations to all the others who have made it a year, this was the fastest year of my life, filled with many eye-openers!
