  1. Hello, I just received my nursing orientation schedule, and I have a med test & an IV push test. We weren't allowed to push drugs during my clinicals, and this is my first nursing job. I have no idea what to expect....any ideas? Thanks!
  2. Anyone know what to expect in terms of the math test during hospital orientation? Do they do review or just pass out an exam? Any examples? I hate surprises, and I want to be prepared. Thanks!
  3. Hello, Does anyone know if the VA is still doing tuition remission for nurses? Thanks!
  4. Hi everyone, One thing to keep in mind - your prereqs will need to end prior to the start of the program. The program is starting earlier this year (1st week in May), so hunt around for classes that end in April, otherwise I don't think you will be eligible. Good luck!
  5. Hello, Yes, I live close to the city. I take the train to my hospital clinical & drive to my community clinical. Our med surg clinicals are all at MGH this semester. Last semester they were at MGH, BWH, and Hebrew Rehab. Other clinicals - community & psych are within a short drive from the city. Clinicals are 2 days per week. Class is one day per week, lab is one day per week (every other week this semester), and one weekend per month. Hope that helps!
  6. Hi everyone, I'm in the MGH ABSN program and I love it. It is intense, and you have to be motivated to do well. It's very fast paced (which you have to assume in order to be done in 13 months). The faculty is awesome, and very supportive. Be prepared to work hard though. Do not plan to work an outside job, because school will be a full time job (or more). Let me know if you have any questions!
  7. Hi, There were almost 400 applicants this year for 50 spots at MGH IHP. At the Curry open house they told us that there are usually 250ish applications for 30 spots. Good luck!! There is a new accelerated program at UMASS boston as well.
  8. Amy - do you mind sharing what the starting rate is for a new grad at the VA? Thanks!
  9. Hey guys, When did you get your award letter? I haven't received anything yet. I'm curious to see what it looks like. The first come first serve line in the email that we received makes me wonder what is going on...thanks!
  10. Hi, I've heard that a few hospitals in MA provide tuition remission for nurses. Does anyone know which hospitals do & if so, what the programs are? Thanks!
  11. Hey guys, I thought the schedule was a little tricky too. Here is my take on it - we are in class on campus every Monday. We have a lot of online material/classes. We'll be on campus on Saturday per month. Are we really in clinical 3 days per week? I'm not sure about that. And, Fridays are our off day. I wish they didn't pick Memorial Day weekend as the first Saturday, but so it goes! If anyone gets more clarification, please share...thanks!
  12. BSN - thank you! Yes, would love to chat about p/t work with you. Did you see that the MGH BSN page has new course description info? The last summer is clinical - 7 weeks of 32 hours per week. That should get us ready to work!
  13. BSN - that's awesome that you can work 16 hours still. I'm a little nervous about not working, but I don't want to take on too much (just yet, anyway).....once the program gets going & I know my schedule, I'd like to work p/t if possible.
  14. Is anyone planning to work at all during this program? P/T?
