Nurses used to make a great living here, but after the real estate boom, you have to look hard for good pay. I work in Bradenton, Fl at Manatee Memorial Hospital and have 5.5 years experience. I make $25.50 before 3pm and $27.50 from 3p-7p. Weekends are another $2 and after 7p is $4 shift diff. If you opt out of benefits, they pay $38 an hour for float pool. I work on a telemetry/surgical step-down. A mortgage here is approx $1200-$1500 for a normal 3/2 w/ yard or condo. Since the housing crash, rent is cheap and foreclosures abundant for the Sarasota and Bradenton area.
  2. People are moving to Kentucky because the living cost is wonderful compared to almost everywhere else on this thread whereas our house payments are $1600 to $4000 a month minimum. Don't fret. Maybe a travel stint where you can make a quick block of money occasionally is just what you need. Then when you look around you can appreciate your lower cost of living.
  3. I work 7a-7p. I make $25.50 til 3pm then $27.50 from 3p-7p. Usually, I work weekends, too and that is another $2 an hour. This is with benefits in Bradenton, Fl. and I have 5.5 years experience. There are hospitals around here that make alittle less for my experience. My hospital pays $38 an hour for float pool/prn which I'm going to transition to. We don't work with each other, so fess up. In order to know the possibilities out there, we need to be informed.
