Nclex 75
Thanks guys, I did not have alot of time to study because I had a lot going on, so I did not do that thousands of questions all the review people said to do, I just went over material that I thought i was weak in, and even then you cant go over everything. But our school made us had in 100 NCLEX question each week so that prolly prepared me more than I know( as much as i complained and did not want to do then on top of careplans, papers, projects etc) The SALA questions usually get me, I can pick the right answers but there is always one i pick and know I shouldnt but reason with myself of why I should, No way did I do that on NCLEX lol. Good luck guys let us know when U pass!

Nclex 75
I couldnt believe that almost all the disease type questions they gave me where on Cushings ( with some diabetes thrown in there) They had to be lower level questions. I had a questions where i added up fluid intake waaay lower level Then the rest where Priority, Infection control, delegation, SATA( which seemed like qo question) It wasnt that bad of an expereence i just hope i dont have to repeat the process lol

Pearsonvue
I took my NCLEX today and it says in the little NCLEX brochure they gave me at Pearson " As part of the quality control process, every NCLEX examination is scored twice: Once by the computer at the test center and then the results are verified after the exam record has been transmitted to Pearson Vue" So they must know something there, I did not pick up any clues in my case though :-( just gotta wait

I took the NCLEX RN today and Im not sure if i did well or not. How can u tell if you got High level questions. It seems as if every question was priority, some meds,Infection control, Diabetes and Cushings( most if not all of the disease questions I got were on Cushings and DM lol), and Delegation, But mostly Select all that apply and Priority were the majority of the questions I have. The computer shut off at 75. What do u guys think ( I know its all different)

Professional Health Monitoring Programs
Ok so I had my evaluation Last week, no treatment recomended at this time. I called my caseworker at the PHMP to see if she recieved my results yet and she said yes and we "closed your case no diagnosis no treatment". Im wondering if this means I wont have to be monitored

Professional Health Monitoring Programs
I guess what I really want to know is what happens at a drug and alcohol evaluation? What should I expect, blood testing, breathalizer stuff like that. What will they ask me. I have never been through anything like this before so it is kind of scary

Professional Health Monitoring Programs
Thanks for the info, unfortunately I have to go get this Drug/ETOH evaluation, It says if they do not find me impaired then I may sit for the exam, IF they DO FIND ME Impaired then I may obtain a license by setting up an agreement with the PHMP, and it can be no public if i qualify( which if the website id right I would). I have not drank since 2003 at my cousins wedding because I remember it was the first time I ever drank in front of my mom( i was 23) and the next day I woke up embarrassed about being drunk in front of her. I started to drink at 16 years old, sipping 40 oz I could only drink a few drinks then I would be done, not drunk just not able to drink. Then i turned 18 and started going to over 18 dance clubs, started to drink more somehow got used to the taste of beer, I did not drink everyday, but for someone who should not have been drinking in the first place, 1 drink was to much. After I turned 21 I thought oh yeah I can go to bars now, but i really did not drink that much at all, I did but not a lot, then like i said at 23 at my cousin wedding i just did not drink anymore after that. Now 5 years later I understand the board wanting to check out everything because I did get underages and disorderly conduct r/t etoh, but at this point what good is full blown therapy going to do. I don't understand how I can be impaired if i have not drank in 5 years, tobacco in 4 years and never any drugs in my life. I do have alcoholism in my family so a littel extra precation might make sense, but does that make me impaired? But if they find that I am because I drank when I was younger I just have to accept it, do what they say, Like i said I know I was made to be a nurse so gotta do what I gotta do.

Professional Health Monitoring Programs
Ok I just graduated from Nursing school last month ( May) and I knew once i applied I would have to disclose all my troubles that I had ( underage drinking, disorderly conduct, falsify info) I told the board about everything and sent in the necessary papers and a personal letter of explanation, and also had my professor write me some references. So the wait was on to see what the board was going to do. Today I get a letter saying that I have to contact the Professional Health Monitoring Program and get a drug and alcohol evaluation, and if they find I am not impaired I may be permitted to sit for boards, If they find I am impaired then I still may be licensed but I must sign up for a monitoring agreement. Now I was wondering if anyone had any experience about this Professional Health Monitoring Programs(PHMP). What should I expect. I have not touched alcohol in years and you better believe after being given this chance to prove this to the board that i will continue to abstain from ETOH. I am very happy that I am getting this chance, I could have just been denied with all my childish immature troubles, but it is true if you are honest and show that you changed BON's are going to listen and give you a chance. But again my question was has anyone had any experience with PHMP?

how are nclex questions picked?
If i remember correctly. NCSBN collects data from brand new students to get material for questions that new nurses will need/encounter in their practice. Then they hire Item writers ( usually nurses) to write items for the exam. When you take NCLEX there are so many questions that are test items that are not scored, these items are then evaluated and used as scored items in the future( or not). Something like that, im sure someone can explain it better

Revocation question
I have a question about Revocation of Licenses. Can a nurses license that has been revokes get there license reinstates? I have been going through the disciplinary section in the news letters and I see all of these revoked and reinstated licenses. I thought once a license got revoked that was it forever. Anyone know how that works.

BON Legal process
Alright time for another venting post. Right now the status is that I am still waiting to hear something lol. My application was being reviewed by a legal counsel for the board. I still have the Temporary Practice Permit that was accidental issued to me(5/30/08), The administrative assistant for the Board told me to "Please hold on to the permit" She would let me know the status of the permit after the initial review by counsel. I think that I showed my character by being the one to bring the fact that I got a Temp Practice permit to the boards attention, I mean someone of not so good moral character would have maybe just played dumb(I know, that is just me thinking to much). But Im scared and confident all at the same time. For those of you who may ask about Licenses and Criminal records, here is what I know about our keystone state: -Judged on a case by case basis Can be refused, suspended, revoked for felony or crimes of moral turpitude(Including ARD in the disposition of felony charges). The State Board of Nursing (Board) reviews the facts of each case, the type of crime, the length of time that has elapsed since the conviction, whether any probation has been successfully completed and restitution/fines have been paid, whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved, or if the crime would be classified as involving moral turpitude Moral turpitude generally involves fraud, deceit or "...anything done knowingly contrary to justice, honesty, or good morals." (For example, a crime involving theft or fraud. ) --Law states that the applicant must furnish evidence that they are of good moral character to the PA BON --Some areas of the law are clear. For example, the Board is prohibited by law from issuing a license for at least 10 years to an applicant who has a felony drug conviction --Other types of felony convictions (such as aggravated assault) and misdemeanor convictions for crimes of moral turpitude are less clear, and the board has more discretion. That is why they are considered on a case by case basis. Once you submit your application and supporting documents, they are forwarded to a legal counsel for the board for review( if you have a background). Some application are also referred to a committee of the Board The length of time for a review is dependent upon the complexity of the applicant's background. (This information is just from my experience and what i was told by the board) Hope that may help others when they ask those questions

BON Legal process
Well it was a mistake that they issued the Temporary Permit. A lady I spoke with at the board said somehow it "squeaked by". I don't see how when I checked the right boxes and sent in a stack of papers and had to communicate with them about my criminal record checks. Like i said though they are human and they make mistakes so of course i just have to grin an bear it. But I'm just so worried about this whole thing and for a second I thought I was on my way of becoming a nurse, reaching the dream I worked so hard for, yeah this whole thing was pretty painful. I kind of knew deep down though thats why I posted on here and asked if anyone else thought they may have made a mistake, it just seemed to easy, but then I thought " No this is the SBON i doubt this could be a mistake". The mistake was I allowed myself to get excited for a second and now I'm back where I started, I dunno, who knows whats going on. No-one responded before so I just typed this to vent, sorry thanks

Listed as new GN on BON web site?
In PA there are Temporary Practice Permits(TPP) which you apply to the PA BON to recieve, If they issue you one you can look the TPP up for someone just as you would a license, with the TPP your considered a Graduate Registered/Practical Nurse

BON Legal process
I typed my name in the license search just because I'm obsessive, and It came back FIRST MIDDLE LAST NAME- GRADUATE REGISTERED NURSE PERMIT -ACTIVE -CITY- STATE -ZIP Do you think they probably made a mistake and accidental issued that TPP? The reason I ask is because on the 9th of May I sent in all my court doc's applications, fee's, and my PA CHC and personal explanation, and I had to wait for My Ohio CHC to come back because they wanted me to get a CHC for every state that I lived in. SO my applications were pending until i got that to them. Yesterday I received the Ohio Criminal History check(CHC) and faxed it to them. Do you think they could have had everything done that fast? I'm afraid to get excited because i thought i was going to get denied to tell you the truth, although i was honest about ever little detail. I know they are only Human and can make mistakes. At the same time i know they know what is going on and know my situation.

BON Legal process
This is not a post for legal advice!!! I am in the process of applying for licensure in PA. I have a positive criminal history and I sent in my applications, background checks( they make you get your own for each state you live in, but only if you check yes to one of the criminal hx questions on the application) and sent in the court papers. Now I guess my application is being reviewed by their legal counsel. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light On this process. Yes I know the only people who can answer legal questions is the PABON, but Has anyone ever been through this process, or know anyone who has been through this? What happened, what did they( or you) go through? Any info or anything anyone can share would be appreciated. How long do they usually take with these matters if anyone knows.

What is a good score to get on HESI??? i got a 996 but the scores werent explained to us. My instructor just said to take the test ASAP, so hopefully that was a good sign. I was hoping it would say what areas you needed to go over more.
