Independent EMR Nurse Consultants?
Hi EMR*LPN. I can't send PMs yet because I don't have enough activity on the boards. I see this is an old post and don't know if you're still active here. I was wondering if you could make some suggestions for "where to start" with EMR consulting? I have worked a few travel assignments (as an RN in periop areas) at facilities implementing Epic so I have some clinical experience with electronic conversions. I keep trying to pick the brains of the people who come in to help at go-live but it's always so crazy busy no one has much time to network. I'm interested in any lead that gets my foot in the door. I would be willing to work with a facility but have no idea how you figure out who is hiring until after the fact. I'm most comfortable with Epic but would certainly consider any opportunity. I wouldn't mind working with an agency that supplies consultants to a firm either. Many of the people I've met do this but I can't recall the name of any of the agencies and my internet search hasn't been very productive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

UAB anyone
Well, all that's left is the waiting! Thanks for all the advice posted here...it was pretty much dead on. The UAB-Montgomery interviews were this afternoon and they were very low stress....all that worrying! There were zero clinical questions. Just the "why CRNA"/"what have you done to prepare financially"/"family or support system"/"how do you deal with criticism" type stuff. The interview went by so fast...especially after the long wait for my turn. Of course I though of so many things on the way home that I wish I had said! Good luck everybody!

any advice for UAB interview?
lol..I know what you mean about cleaning....it happens to me to. papers will pile up and when I finally get around to "organizing" I start looking for something and cannot find it to save my life! what time is your interview? When I talked to Stacey at UAB she confirmed me for 1:00 but the email she sent indicated that this time was for those scheduled at 9 am and people scheduled for 10 am (me) were rescheduled for 2:00. I was a litte confused after I read her email but am going with the time she actually confirmed on the phone...let's hope she's reliable. She also gave the impression that the interviews might not be as well organized as when they were held at UAB and couldn't even tell me who would be doing the interviews. I'm very nervous and I always do awful with the "tell me about a patient, a difficult situation, your feelings during the crisis...etc! I'm not much of a storyteller and it shows...good luck to you too! I'm wondering if we know each other? I worked at EAMC for many years, now at Northside in Atlanta....

any advice for UAB interview?
Hey fronkey...I'm interviewing on Jan 5 too. I did get a letter and I know that S. Smith was very glad when I did because I had been calling....a lot, lol! She called me and changed my time also and sent an email too. I called her to inquire about appropriate attire and asked about the format of the interview, panel vs. individual. Anyway, she told me this is the first year they will do interviews at montgomery. They have always done the montgomery ones in birmingham. She didn't know "what they decided to do"....yikes! Eveyone I know who interviewed in b'ham said the questions were not clinical but more getting to know you type stuff. I'm afraid that this interview might be very different...
