  1. Fwiw, in this economy, I think anything that gets your foot in the door with health care is a step in the right direction. I graduated in May and the I would say all but a couple of people I graduated with who have found jobs were affiliated with a health care employer while in school. Good luck with whatever you decide!
  2. Thanks so much! Mine doesn't say anything. I'm not sure, but I will take that as a good sign??
  3. Wow! 360 seems like an awful lot to me! I wonder how many positions they have available. I too applied, but haven't heard anything yet. I'm not sure if that is a good or a bad thing. Jobs for newbies are pretty scarce right now. Best of luck to everyone looking!!
  4. You do get to do the essay at home. If I recall correctly, it is part of your application packet and it was only a one page statement/answer type thingie. You have to write your answer in english and then in spanish. The "interview", at least when I did it, was a group event. A bunch of hypothetical student issues were in a bowl and you had to pick one and give your answer in English and spanish. Took about 3 mintures tops. Nerve wracking to be sure. Trust me, I was plenty nervous and thought I was going to vomit and not make it in, but totally worth it.:wink2:
  5. Hi there, I am currently in the SMCC/Gateway bilingual program. As with many things, there have been growing pains, but I would recommend this program to anyone waiting to get into nursing school. You do NOT have to take a loan out to attend, you do however have to fill out a FAFSA every year, whether you choose to take money out is up to you. For admission, you do have to write an essay in spanish and there are interview questions in spanish as well. A bit nerve wracking, but definitely doable. Good luck in whatever you decide! For what it is worth, I applied to the bilingual program in March and started my first block in August of that same year, so it really beats waiting!!!!!
