To all who've taken Organic Chem as a prereq...I need your advice
oh yes there are alot of 'what the hells' reactions; structures; clyclohexene; S & R; 2,3-trimethlybutyne, 2,4,6-TriMethlyToluene (TNT), butyric anhydride + cyclohexanol; mechanisms; trans-3,4-dimethyl-3-hexenioc acid; ***** "if you stay on top of your material the O-chem book will fear you" :bowingpur...I shall fear no ten page exam, 4 1/2 hour final and the woman trying to take the last 20 standing students down... i had a crazy instructor....she did not believe in remorse

Online crna program in texas?
...i was just confused by the situation she was talking about, i was just looking for an answer that would help me...i understand that the work cannot have short cuts like i said i understood that she was doing work through the hospital even in her first year of school ( i meant that this is what she told my mother while she was working as a crna, she she was telling her what she did in the 'past' while she was training/in school)...there probably was a misunderstanding...no harm done...i was just curious

Online crna program in texas?
maybe im just the only one that dosent know of 'online' crna programs but here we go... my mother spoke to a crna at a local hospital where i live and she told my mom the the first 4 weeks or so at the beginning of the semster she had to go to the campus to do some work, then she got to go back home and do work 'online' and got to to whatever work through the hospital (im guessing with fellow crna's). ive heard this before that 2 hospitals where i live work with this school in texas and the school in south dakota, and it seems like its the same deal that she continued this every semester until graduation. someone clear this up, if anyone knows what the deal is or am i just clueless about this situation, and are other schools like this?

To all who've taken Organic Chem as a prereq...I need your advice
i was originally a premed student so i took the full blown organic chemistry which was NOT the 'intro' class...i did it over the summer and realized that general chemistry was not even needed to get through it. the beginning of the first semester delt with lewis dot structures and such, but you would think the instructor would go over it as if it was not a review but to introduce students to something new. Organic chem demands: 1. Time 2. Memory 3. The need to keep yourself going...do not give up 4. Critical thinking skills 5. Patience 6. Confidence 7. Study, study and study 8. The most important is for you to find a study partner that you can count on to be a dedicated to the class as you are! overall orgaic chem is talked up over and over about how hard it is, but when you think about it the first time you take a new class; for instance physics or whatever it starts out tricky, but it grows on you and you start to get in the rythm of what is needed of the class. you will realize its not what is seems to be and you will laugh when its all over and youll wonder why you stressed the way you did because in the end you will do FINE.

PRE MED TO CRNA...tell me my chances....please reply
yes...just being said for the most part it seems as if it is not a big worry most CRNA's have in this area ( which im sure it could be this way in other areas as well ) for CRNA's i have spoken with. today i just talked to a crna who is in his 40's or 50's and he had nothing but great things to say about his job, when i hear all these great things i seem to not even want to look at medical school again

PRE MED TO CRNA...tell me my chances....please reply
im starting to think that some MD's look at a crna and think well they dont pay mal' insurance, work 40 hours a week with optional overtime, no residency...and less school....not to mention the paycheck that adds up to 120,000 a year plus.... i think with all that adding up; not working (occasionally) more than 40 hours a week and saving on insurance costs MD's really dont make a whole lot more....how i see it if you make 100,000+ a year its all the same...unless you are seriously making big big bucks over 100,000... just my opinion

PRE MED TO CRNA...tell me my chances....please reply
i completely understand what you are trying to say, its just one thing that i cannot pass is when there are students that feel as if they have bragging rights over other students...i do not say anything along these lines towards students or around others inside/outside of school or work. i feel as if we are all equal no matter what we decide to go into. but besides all this i feel as if there is something pulling me toward nursing. i didnt expect to get replies like i have already received from all of you; and i thank all of you for the advice that you have given. The more i sit and think about the pros/cons of med school vs becoming a CRNA i drift towards a career in becoming a CRNA. I for one do not need the feeling of accomplishment of becoming a Medical Doctor. I knew from the start i wasn't going into this just to get my name of DR. X stamped on my coat or office door. well lets keep em' comin!

PRE MED TO CRNA...tell me my chances....please reply
ohh yes if anyone has wondered about the post that reads 'do you have to go to nursing school to be a crna?' yes, that was from me....it came as a shock to see that a threaad that i had asked about many many moons ago ( maybe 8-9 months ago? ) is still up and alive, this was when i was enrolled in respiratory therapy....

PRE MED TO CRNA...tell me my chances....please reply
okay everone i think i have decided to not finish my degree in biology and switch to nursing....by the way i am a male...not like it matters...i have had second thoughts about med school because: 1.) students with their noses in the air, trying to be better than everyone else because they are PREMED, 2.) the ammount of time trying to find a residency program etc, and spending 7 or more years of my life (after my bachelors degree) trying to finish this and that just to be able to finally work 3.) and worrying about not finding a decent job while waiting to be accepted into med school. looking at my third problem i thought more about just majoring in nursing and being an RN (bachelors), which would then solve my problem with a future job issue....then i got to think about being a CRNA...the more i talked to a fellow employee at work about his job as a CRNA; he really got me thinking more and more about it. so, here it is....since i have taken inorganic and organic chemistry, physics and biology would my application look better becuase they would see that i am able to do take theses classes and do well in them; or would it just not matter? my science background is strong with genetics and biochem also... B Inorganic chemistry 1 A Inorganic chemistry 2 A Physics 1 A Physics 2 B Biology 150 A Bioilogy 151 B+ Organic Chemistry 1 A Organic Chemistry 2 My total GPA is about a 3.7, so just looking at my GPA and thinking ahead of a year or 2 of ICU work what would my chances be? i appreciate all of you for reading this long mess, and PLEASE PLASE REPLY REPLY THANK YOU

do you need to go to a nursing school to become a CRNA?
I am currently finishing my 4 year degree in respiratory therapy. I have taken calculus, Biology 150 and 151, 2 semesters of College Physics, 2 semesters of General Chemistry, a semester of microbiology and 2 semesters of Organic Chemistry as well as 2 semesters of Anatomy. I am having second thoughts about going to Medical school, with my gpa of 3.7 i still feel that i might want to go and keep my ming open to other work, i have been influenced on a few people that tell me how great being a CRNA is. I really have statred thinking about a CRNA but with all this i feel as if i would have to start all over and go to nursing school.... With my degree I am able to work full time in a hospital setting and do lots of work with patients. the demand is increasing because the courses you need to take are pretty much the same as a pre med work. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? COULD I GET ACCEPTED INTO A SCHOOL FOR CRNA WITHOUT BEING A RN? KEEP IN MIND I WOULD BE WORKING AS A REGISTERED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST, WOULD THIS EVEN DO ANY GOOD? THANK YOU!!
