  1. i think in this life, you can do whatever you want. it's good that you have dreams, goals and the desires to make them come true. do listen to negative people because they will steal your dreams. you can do it, and you can be successful at it. the job market everywhere is tough, that's life, before nursing school i was working for companies that told me what job to do, what career where available. i pick nursing, i pick this career and i love being a psych nurse. this website used to be a cool site, but now it's just a site of cry babies, crying about the patients, the doctors, the work and the job market. nursing school is a beast and only the strong will survive, but for those who dream of being a nurse it is worth it.
  2. You can check the fluid for glucos, and if it has it, then it is CSF
  3. Thats a normal part of life, you will see that any and everywhere.
  4. First, of all you are lucky to have thoses otion, before college, you had no real options. I don't know where you from, but here in Texas and places' like cali there is a major nurse shortage. My friends and I are senior nursing students and we all have jobs setup already when we finish school, in additon to that, the hospital paid for all our schooling and books. Nursing jobs in not the issue, the issue is what do you enjoy doing and where is your heart is at. Nursing school is a beast, but if you dream of helping people then its for you. So, many people forget that nursing is a hard job and only your love for people will make it worth it, I always tell patient and families that I am in the business of helping people, so don't ever think that you are bothering me. good lucky, lucky ducky!
  5. you, have some good points, and i think its depends on what part of the country that you live. where i live in dallas there is a great mixture of races in the rn field, now you are right there are opportunities for everyone; however, many people don't know, see or hear about those opportunities, for example, who are going to tell everyone? if people are too afraid to go to the public schools and talk with the kids, and teach them about financial aid, tutoring and programs out there to help them, then they will never know. people aspect people know about everything, when we should be encouraging, teaching and telling the ct, lvn and other health care worker to improve their education. i am a black male from south dallas, and i wouldn't be in nursing school if my college professor wouldn't told me about a program that not only paid for my nursing education, but have a job waiting for me when i finish school. this same program go to local high school and offer free training, jobs to high school kids whom want to be nurses, and paid for all of their perquisites, then we them finish that part offer them a sit in nursing school. this program is offer to any of the hospital employees or their family members. yes i am to going to tell you where (lol) if you live close to dallas/ft.work the place is thr (texas human resources), which covers now 13 hospitals. this is free nursing education for those whom will to work hard their dream of being a nurse. "now i challenge everyone who know about an opportunity to tell everyone and anyone that can benefit from it".
  6. You, makes so good points, and I agree somewhat, but if we all take care of our own parents and grandparents then we wouldn't have to worry about the training that others have, I must admit, that I am in nursing school and in the same building there is a LVN school and we eat in the same place that they do, and most of us don't even speak or look at them. So, I decide to speak and give respect to them, because I know one day or night, I may be on the hospital floor and need one of them to help me save someone life. We have to look at this as a team. Its like day care, no one can take care of our kids like we can; however, we are not available, because we have to work, therefore we should thank them for being there for our kids, but many complain about that they kids are learning there, when we are the one who suppose to be teaching. I think if we look at LVNs with respect, then they will feel respected, then some will want to get more education, and some will just feel a little better doing their jobs, and remember doctors thinks nurses are stupid.
  7. This sounds like one person feels superior to the next person, I am in RN school and feel lucky to be there; however, I don't feel like that I am better than the houndreds whom get turn down every year, I just know how to prepare and take test. It does not make me smarter, its just make me a better test taker. As an RN we can never look down on anyone or anything. I hope I never met a RN who thinks that she or he is smarter than me, because of my job. The skills we have as Rn's are tought to us, we wasn't born with it. The best thing for people to do, is to help and respect others co-workers, no matter what their job is, now imagin, how you feel when a doctor walk by you thinking he is better, just cause he is an Doctor.
  8. Wow!, I was feeling a little bad about being so old, but now I realize that I am not the only one, now I feel so much better. I am starting my Nursing program at 43 and will be 45 when I finish. People has ask me why go back to school at such an old age, and I tell them its because I am old enough know better. Its not how you being your life, but how you end it, and I want to end my life educated and helping others.
  9. You are totally correct, if a person is an *******, people can't wait until that person mess up to terminate them, however, if that person is nice and sweet and try to get alone with everyoney, then people will go out of they way to help them to be successful, thats way it s important to learn how to work with different kinds of people. Just the fact that the people want to sue, because they made a mistake tells all about a person charactor.
  10. You are totally correct, many people have a little mental ability, so, they decide to go into NURSING, thinking about the money and social statis, the one thing they may not realize is that nursing is very hard work. To be a nursing is to be a hard working. I understand about being tired and worn out, and thats life, and I expect when I am a nurse that I will be always tired and worning out, because I am going to give 100% of myself to help people and my patients. People health is a very serious thing, and people should be very serious when they decide to become Health care workers, we are supose to give our patient 100% of ourselves and if we are too:yawn: tired then we are giving them nothing.
  11. Sorry, Hear that, but, don't give up on your dreams, just keep fighting. My wife, friends took a program call Qbank from Kaplan college, it is totally online Qbank stands for QuestBank, all her friend past the NCLEX TEST,and my wife didn't, because she didn't not take Qbank because it costed like 70 to 150 depens on how long you need to prepare the test, I think it is sold in weeks or months, I can't remember. she took the Qbank the next time and finally past it, change the way we live financally.Well anyway keep trying.
  12. I hope you, change your mine and decide to fight to the end, Nursing school is a war, and we nursing students must keep fighting the battles. Many people are in a hurry to get in and finish, however, a person must realize that it may take a while or a few chances to make it, a person should ask themselves how long or how many year left to do them have to work, until they retire, and if it 20 -40 yrs left, then they should ask themselves how do you want to spend that time, I rather spend my last years as being a nurse, so don't give up on your dreams and remember that your have time, you must show your kids that their mom never give up and succeeded in reaching her goals. Hang in there this is not the end.
