Post Graduate Certificate, Your thoughts?
I have just gotten done with a MSN degree in Nursing Informatics from Walden University. I was considering doing a MHA degree, but I have too much going on right now to do and afford that. Not even sure if it make that much difference in my marketability. However, I can do a 5 course post graduate certificate at Walden U to get the certificate in Nursing Leadership and Management. My questions are, how much more marketable will I be with this certificate? Anybody with this certificate, what has been your experience? Should I be looking at a DNP level program instead? (That would have to be down the road).

Certification Exam Materials, I PASSED!
Happy to report that I also took it and passed. Didn't study as hard as I had planned, but I did do the 8 week webinar and used the paid test questions from the ANCC.

Certification Exam Materials, I PASSED!
Belated congratulations on passing, and was said previously thanks for sharing. I'm getting ready to register to take it and I did the webinar last fall. Just gotta get serious with studying. @ikarus7401, the point is not whether you get a raise on not. Certification is more a mark of professionalism on you personaly and on nursing informatics as a profession. Certification is the best way for nurses in this and other nursing fields to be recognized as professionals (just like any other profession out there), making sure the work we put in clinically and in our education is known. It also looks good on your resume.

Certifications for the Nurse Informaticist
So, I'm currently in a Masters program at WaldenU, and I'm looking to beef up my resume and make myself more marketable when the job search starts. Since I have no prior experience in project management or information technology (I don't think the tinkering I do on my own computers count), are there any certifications I should be looking at obtaining? What certifications do any experienced informaticists here have? I have heard of sigma six, and I'm not sure if it is something I should be looking into or if it is not really necessary (I don't really have the money to spare). Do I need a certification in Microsoft office or any other such areas? You replies are greatly appreciated. Manny

Walden University Nsg Informatics Program
I'm currently in the program at WaldenU. Classes are arranged in 12 week quarters - so you have 12 weeks for each quarter and a week off in-between. You do two classes per quarter. I haven't had any issues with the program. My biggest complaint in that every paper or even discussion post has to be in APA format. Not that this is a bad thing, I was never really a fan. All in all, I'm glad I'm doing it (switched from FNP). I just hope I find a job in my area when I'm done

Per Diem positions, Do they help or hurt chances of getting in?
I'm in the process of applying to 4 of the 5 schools in Michigan for the nurse anesthesia program. I have everything ready and I'm currently writing my goal statements/biography for them. I have 3.5 years experience in a neuro ICU, but I have worked per diem/agency in several local hospitals in their ICUs (generally medical ICU). If I mention this in my letters, and even in my interview (if I get invited), will this help or hurt my cause? I have help my fulltime position in the neuro ICU the whole time.

Brain hemorrhages
I work with adults so I don't know if the bleeds in children are exactly the same in timeline and effects (symptoms). Subdural bleeds are venous and so take a while to accumulated and produce symptoms. Epidural and Subarachnoid bleeds are arterial and changes are very quick. With epidural, they can have a period of normalcy after the initial injury, and then when the blood accumulates, they drop their LOC.
