First I feel this profession was right for me and I enjoy caring for people and making a difference. I'm not naive and think that everyone pays attention to what we say but occasionally they do and I like that. But I also like the fact that being a nurse you can almost always find a job. It may not be what you want and may not be perfect but you can find a job and support your family. I don't think anyone can say money wasn't somewhere in the equation when deciding to become a nurse?!?! And BTW I was 30 when I finally went to school to become a nurse but had always wanted to be a teacher or a nurse!

I graduated in May and got my RN license just a few weeks ago. I'm about to start my first job as a new RN Monday. I was hired to work night shift. I have never worked night shift as a nurse(transitioned to RN from LPN) and I thought I would try it. I feel it will work better with my kids because I will have weekends off. Just looking for some feedback on what others think about night shifts in general and thoughts on new grads starting out on night shift. I'm excited and going into all this with a positive attitude. I'm ready to start in my new role and career!

I'm in the same boat. Took mine yesterday and it cut off at 75. My last 2 questions were priority questions. I did the PVT and got the good pop up! Hope it works!!!!

Well, our class had to take the HESI exit exam to get our diploma. You could still participate in graduation but you got an "I" in the nursing class. I passed 1st try with a 932. From what I have read that's O.K. You have a pretty good chance of passing NCLEX 1st try if you make above 850. I'm just freaking right now because I'm ready to take it and get it over with but the BON is taking their sweet time getting my ATT to me!!!

Predictor tests? Do you mean like the HESI exam?

I was in the same situation in an LTC facility when I was fresh out of LPN school and the ink wasn't even dry on my license! I told the DON and ADON I wouldn't work in these conditions. It's not safe and I will not lose my license for either of you. They told me to go home. I got my stuff, clocked out and went home. They were calling me 2 days later wanting me to come back to work! But one of the nursing directors at the hospital had heard what I did and called me to come to work for her! So, you never know what can happen if you stand up for yourself and the license you worked so hard to get!!

Thank you!! I really like that "Made Incredibly Easy" series but didn't realize they had a Care Planning one. I just looked on Amazon and the only one on there was from April 2007. Is there one newer??

I agree! Go ahead and get it over with! I am in almost the same situation as you. I started the RN program and had to drop because of troubles with my kids. I went back to school and got my LPN and began ASAP to get my RN. But here in MS most facilities are getting away from hiring LPNs. Most hospitals around here won't even hire LPNs. They will hire LPNII's but slowly but surely the LPN is being phased out. I have been looking for work for almost 3 months and can find nothing. It's just opinion to go ahead and get it over with before you get into "real world" mode!!

I am currently in the LPN to RN bridge program. I am in need of a good care plan book. The one they recommend for class I am not fond of and was wondering if you all might have some good suggestions. Thanks in advance!!
