  1. I'm glad to hear there is someone out there that has something positive to say about the BIS.
  2. I feel the BIS is a helpful tool & should be used. If something does happen during surgery & case goes to court; @ least you have that to back you up; as long as numbers are documented on anesthesia record. You need all the necessary tools available in this day & age.
  3. Thank goodness for the use of BIS monitors during anesthesia;they just need to do an article or TV special so people can understand that things like this should not happen.

What is the general feeling about time clocks? We don't have them @ our hospital but alot of us would like them. When I worked on med-surg, 3-11 shift was always late so we always worked past our shift. We all decided to sign up for OT hoping it might get the manager on their case about always being late. I now work in anesthesia/OR dept. & I never leave on my scheduled time. I do sign up for OT & any missed lunches, if any. It depends a lot on the caseload for the day . The problem is; a lot of girls are constantly late & never stay later unless they are on call. Several of us are also nonsmokers so we don't get the cigarette breaks or any other break. Can anyone tell me how the punching in & out works? Do you punch in & out everytime you leave the floor to smoke? What happens when you are always late & leave early; do they dock you or write you up? Do they question you when you work a lot of OT?
  5. :) I rarely leave work on time. I work in anesthesia/OR dept. so it depends a lot on the caseload for the day. I do sign up for OT & for any missed lunches.
  6. I use cocoa butter lotion or anything with shea butter in it for my hands @ work. I get a lot of cuts on the tips of my thumbs especially during the winter months so I use neosporin ointment @ bedtime. I found the one response about using lanolin based moisturizers interesting. I work in the anesthesia dept. & we just had a rep in trying to sell the hospital new gloves for OR use & I didn't hear anything about types of hand lotions to be used with gloves. I'll have to check that out when he stops by.

We don't usually have that problem @ our facility. There is a list of people that want days off. It's just that when we are so busy for such long periods of time ; we fight for a day.
