I was a hh nurse for years and I loved and hated it. I loved the hh environment, patients, being outside, and the fredom to make my own schedule. I hated the on-call, wound vacs, unlimited social issues, and paperwork. I've been back in a non-traditional nursing role for almost 5 years now, but it's boring and I am considering Hospice. Does anyone have any experience with hospice they could share with me? I truly love the terminally ill, and I always felt in place with them in home care. Thanks!

I am a CDI also. It is so redundant. I seriously ask the same 3 doctors every day to please specify the acuity of the heart failure over and over again. It never changes. I do love the flexibility, but being tied to this desk all day and spinning my wheels with the same old stuff every day is driving me nuts.

I am starting at Maryville for post-masters FNP certificate in January. There is no campus requirement and the program is 100% online, except for clinical, of course. So far, I like the structure of the program. You have the ability to access classes 24/7 and the tuition rate is not bad $781.00 per credit hour. The clinical hours are 745, which is a bit more than some other schools I have checked into.

I start post masters FNP in January. I work full time as a Clinical Documentation Specialist M-F office hours. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with a daunting 265 hours of clinicals sitting in front of me. How did you guys do it? Was it manageable? Thanks

Good morning :) I have decided to go for post-MSN NP certification. I am trying to decided between FNP or AG-ACPN. I have zero interest in peds or OB and I have worked with adults and geriatrics my entire nursing career. I am afraid if I chose one over the other, that I will limit myself in the way of career opportunity. Could anyone who has been there, done that, give me a little advice on the best direction to go? I left acute care after several years to explore the world of home health and I have done home infusion and home care case mgnt for the past four years. This is without a doubt the most stressful, time consuming, life eating job I have ever had. My phone rings all day all evening and all weekend I work all day all the time. The paperwork is a sea of never ending misery. My worst day at the hospital was never as bad as my worst day in home care. I am going back to the hospital next month to work med surg and I can not wait. Home health is very difficult and you must be completely dedicated everyday, have meticulous charting skills, and be willing to answer your phone day or night. I will not say what agency I work for but it is one of the top best known in my area. So really really think before you go to home care maybe a day surgery center or physician office would be better alternative. Best wishes on your journey!

Ok I need some support from fellow nurses. I made a med error last week it was a mistake and I felt so bad. I work in home care and the pharmacy delivered the wrong med to the pt. the pt was ordered to recieve Ancef but the pharmacy sent Rocephin and the med was given to the pt by a family member but I was present at the time. The pt was not hurt and had no reaction to the med Ok so what's the problem? Well this is the first time in my 4 years as a nurse that I have given someone the completly wrong med and I have never been under any dicipline before at work. Well my supervisor who is a pharmacist, gave me a final written warning! so if it hapens again I am fired! I told her that it was unusually harsh to give final written on a first offense but she stuck to it. I filed a grivence and the people in HR (none of who are nurses) all felt like that was appropriate. I am at as loss here! as soon as I realized there was an error I contacted the pharmacy and I have been honest about everything so why this baptism by fire? none of the people in administration are nurses so I feel like I am all alone without any support from fellow nurses who have been through med mistakes. Can anyone share experences with med errors and maybe the action their supervisor took? I feel like I am being singled out by my manager and being punished for mistake.
