Thank you all for the advice and help. I will definitely be working hard on the prerequisites. Although I am sure that NYU would like me to take another semester there, I don't think my pockets can really afford it! So I will be trying to complete the prereqs in advance. I think I will also do some extracurricular volunteering, if only to prove to myself that this is the right field for me. Thanks again, and any other responses would be much appreciated!

Hi everyone, I am interested in applying to NYU for spring 2009. I have called them a few times to try to get a feel for what makes their "perfect applicant" and have had difficulty getting any kind of solid response. For those of you who got accepted, is there any way you could post a little bit about yourselves as an applicant (GPA, prereq GPA, previous work experience, prior school attended) so I can get more of a feel for what they are looking for? It would be VERY much appreciated! For a bit about myself, I graduated undergrad from University of Michigan with a double major in Political Science and Psychology two years ago. I have a 3.1 undergrad, but haven't taken many of the prereqs, which I plan on doing over the next year. I also plan on volunteering part time at a local hospital so I can get some experience. Any other suggestions you could give me would be great!
