I am a student at Bellarmine. I just started this semester. I plan to attend UL's accelerated orientation because I want to find out if it would be possible to switch. The odds are against me, but I'm hoping since I already have a degree and the nursing classes that I am taking now are pretty standard for all programs in Louisville that I may have a chance to change. I am going to apply to Bellarmine's accelerated as well..I just want to be finished by May 2011 and if I stay in the traditional program it's going to take me 2-3 years. Not good!!

What campus are you taking the A&P class ?? Is it A&P II? I am taking the online version of A&P and I'm signed up to take it out of the Gary campus - it requires that I purchase a dissection kit - I'm thinking of dropping it an enrolling in a course that only requires a book. Can anyone give me feedback about the online A&P II class fromt the Gary campus or any feedback about the online class at any of the other campuses. Thanks!

Does anyone know what the ANPY 102 Lab Dissection kits have in them. My campus does not carry the lab kits and I was thinking I may be able to order it online somewhere - other than at the school. Can anyone please let me know if they have picked theirs up and what it contains. This is required for the Anatomy and Physiology II class that is offered online through the Gary campus. Thanks!!

I am enrolled in the Anatomy 2 course (15950) online that starts this summer. I have already taken anatomy 2, but I got a C in it. The big reason was because I could only attend the class during my lunch breaks at work and needless to say I wasn't able to attend most of the classes. I'm looking forward to the online version and I think I will do MUCH better this way. I have taken online science classes w/ labs before - BIO and Chem and I loved the online format. I learn alot more from the labs that way as well because you don't have any partners to work with so you work at your own pace.

I enjoyed reading this thread. I am also debating going to Galen. I already hold a bachelor's degree in communications and I had applied to Spalding's accelerated BSN program, but didn't get in. This time I have applied to their traditional program along with UL, Bellarmine, and Ivy Tech. I think I am going to apply to Galen this week. I'm a little hesitant about them because I've heard you have to complete the LPN program before you can start the ADN program. Is this true? I already have all of the science courses required and all of the other gen ed courses. Will Galen accept those? After reading your posts I'm very interested in attending Galen. I've heard a lot of great things about Galen nurses. One of my friends is a nurse (JCC graduate) and all of her co-workers said they would work with a Galen nurse over a UL or Spalding nurse anytime. I hear this is possibly because Galen has more clinical time. Shoulder shrug...because I really don't know if that's the reason for that comment. Anyway can you give me feedback as far as transferring courses into Galen and how long the program may take me since I don't have to take those general science courses?

I didn't realize SHPS had work at home. Thanks for the info. I will definitely be looking into that. We actually have work at home in my current position - but whether or not they are going to allow additional associates to do it is up in the air. I'm really hoping that it all turns out for the best.

Thank you for your reply Saving. I'm going to start applying for jobs early next year at the area hospitals. I currently work at Humana and what would be ideal is if I can get a work at home position - that would be the best case scenario for me because I wouldn't lose benefits or pay.

I'm in the process of taking the required prereqs for Spalding's accelerated BSN program. I really need some opinions about the intensity of the program. I work full time days making $30,000 per year. I have an elementary age child and I can't afford to just stop working. My fiance is willing to pick up some of the load financially, BUT he can't do it all. I have always worked full time and went to school full time. I HAVE to work atleast 25 hrs per week while in the nursing program. During my last year of school while completing my first bachelor's degree I worked full time days, took 27 hrs per semester in classes and still managed at 3.7 gpa. I need to hear from people that are going through an accelerated program, Spalding if possible. What time are clinicals generally? How many classes did you generally take per session? How much clinical time do you have to do per session? Any advice is wanted!!!! I would also like to hear about places to possibly work while in the nursing program.

I got my degree in communications because I wanted to get out of school. I have a decent job making an average salary in Louisville, but I'm sitting in a cubicle all day and I absolutely HATE IT!!!! I am very much a people person and a helper of humanity so I have decided to return to school to pursue my BSN. I will be taking the prereqs at JCC and possibly some at UL. I will be applying to the accelerated programs at Spalding, Bellarmine, and UL (I want to make sure I get in some where next year in 2009). If you go to the Norton Healthcare website they have information on their about all the programs/scholarships they offer nurses. My only concern is that I will still have to work while attending nursing school - although my current employer offers work at home positions- so I am really hoping that I can take advantage of that while in nursing school. I have a young child and can't afford to lose my healthcare benefits.
