  1. Thanks to everyone for your help with this class. I was ready to throw in the towel a couple of times! Best of luck to all!
  2. Congratulations! Best of luck with your future endeavors!
  3. Does anyone know how to find out if the same professor is assigned to the summer classes? I did horribly on the quiz and I felt I had a very good understanding of the concepts. The questions are vague and obscure in my opinion. I may drop and take again but if it is the same professor might as well forget it. I have a 4.0 for now. I have a 75 for this class after the week 2 quiz.
  4. Frills, Thank you SO much...just ordered the book and will get it Tuesday. I appreciate your help!
  5. I am enrolled in this class but havent received any information about it and it isnt showing up in Blackboard. Have you received your syllabus, required text, etc.?
  6. Thank you so much for your help. I have ordered the AHIMA book. It looks like a great place to start. I will probably be back for more help! Thank you again
  7. Thank you for the help. My position is a new one at the facility and I will be working in cooperation with the PI Director to establish a Quality Plan for the hospital. I do have extensive knowledge of the depts I will be working with but would like more guidance on Quality Managment. The recommendations you have given sound very good. Thank you again!
  8. Me too... you have all of the qualities I would look for. Skills can be learned, your qualities usually cannot
  9. Amen to that
  10. AMEN to that
  11. Patrick, First I want to thank you for your informative posts esp about hppd. It helped me tremendously. I left my managment role in November because I was totally exhausted and burned out. I know how you feel. It saddens me that this has to happen. Best of luck to you, dear. Enjoy your sleep and actual days off!!!
  12. Hello all...I have just begun a new position in Quality Management. I would like to become very informed about the field and wondered if there are any books you would recommend for hospital quality. I would appreciate any help. The market is full of books and I am having a hard time choosing. Thank you!!!
  13. The salary range is in the 50s. On site would be the call center. There are several located in the US. Check with the United Healthcare website to see if there are any openings near you. You do have to commute to the site for 3 months.
  14. Yes, I will be able to work from home after 90 days on site and demonstrating the skills to work totally independantly. That is one of the things that was so appealing to me. I think I will love that!
  15. I work for United health, Optum Nurseline. I have been there since November. So far, so good. Much less stressful than my previous position. Good support. If you like working independantly and need a break from the hospital environment, this might be for you. If you have any questions, I would be glad to help.

Im working 3:30 to 12. Im not crazy about evenings but I like the shift diff. Will see how it goes. Im on my first week of taking calls and Im still VERY unsure of myself. Its got to get better......the supervisers are great though and very supportive...thats a life saver

I agree, it is VERY structured and I also agree that 3 weeks is too short. I will be taking live calls next week. Hope Im ready. How many hours will your shifts be? I am starting out on 8s but I may go to 10s. I never realized how much there is to learn about taking a phone call . Hang in there.....

Training is going well but there is a LOT of information in a short amount of time. I think I will love this job once I get the hang of it. How has your first week been?

Hello! I was also just hired by Optum....I am in my 2nd week of training. How is it going for you?
