  1. No problem at all scoope23. I work in a hospital now and that BSN from Chamberlain was what actually helped me get in. Plus I got an education bonus of $1,200. Im in NYC by the way. ;-)
  2. Hi Ozzia, You can say I am about 3/4 of the way to complete the program. At first I was taking 2 classes at a time, took a break and now I am doing 1 class at a time. I have to say that the classes are not hard at all. Just very time consuming. If you follow the rubric to a "T" and post the thread discussions on time, you are garanteed to get an A. You will do just fine if you always stay on top of your work. It is not hard AT ALL. At least for me it hasn't been.
  3. csgreen2005, How was Math 114? I'm taking that next. So far I have taken transitions, information systems, cultural diversity, math 092 and community nursing. Im at the half way mark. I can say, so far everything has been good. Its alot of writing but if you follow the rubric to a T you will always get full credit. No where near as hard as ADN program.
  4. Hi, its been a while since I logged on here. Are you finishing school in June? How was Math 114 ? Any advise? I just finished the pre-req math course to 114 (i believe 092) and it wasnt so bad. Did you take 092 and how does it compare to 114? Thanks.
  5. I took transitions and diversity and did well... Had to take a break fro school though to work 2 jobs. I just registered for January to get back on the grind. Anyone has some useful advise on NR361-Informations and NR443-community? Im taking those 2 next.
  6. You are not kidding when you say writing-intensive! Whew! It has only been one week and I've been logging in to class for several hours a day. Aside from learning how to navigate the site, I spend quite some time on the threads trying to formulate an opinion. You see, I am not a good writer but I think this structure will help me become a better one in the long run. I do hope I do well this semester though. I am taking transitions with sociology.
  7. Hey, how is everybody doing so far? Im still navigating the site and getting use to some things but hopefully this will all become easier soon. Its looks like a hell of a lot of writing.
  8. I was able to log on to the Transitions class but not the sociology one. I have no idea what I am doing yet.
  9. During the ADN program I NEVER read my books but since this is online I dont know how the structure is. If the book is for you to "know things" then I will skip it but if I need it for assignments then I think I would have to get it. I know the Sociology book is an E-book and it is charged as part of the tuition so I have no choice on that one. I think i'm leading towards not getting the transitions book.
  10. Do you HAVE to use the transition's book? I read some horrible reviews on it at ebay/amazon. Not sure if I should even get it???? Can I manage my assignments without it?
  11. DebanamRN, Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it. Can't wait
  12. I'm officially in... woooohoooo! I will be taking those same exact courses! See you online. Good luck to us!!! Let's do this!!! Class of 2012 here we come !!!
  13. Okay, so I will let him guide me... I really hope I will be saying the same as you soon.
  14. I'm definitely downloading PERRLA when I get my laptop back! And that's awesome you get to pick your topics... You think its better to take a nursing with a gen. ed. class or with another nsg class? I know Im taking transitions first for sure but not sure what to pair it with. And I think I am doing 2 at a time throughout the entire program. BTW my advisor contacted me today and said he finally got all my transcripts and will be calling me tomorrow to go over the schedule. WOOHOO!
  15. Good to know... DO you pick whatever you want thoughout or do they give you topics to pick from?
  16. Thanks for the reply. I will give it another week and then contact them. Feel free to come back to this post and let us know of anything else that can be useful to us during our journey. Thanks alot. And good luck on your last 2 weeks.
  17. DebanamRN, How many classes did you take at a time and in total ? Did you work full time or part time? And how long did it take you to complete the program? I was so excited to start July but they havent contacted me or anything and we're only 2 weeks away from start date. I am starting a new job too but it will be fulltime as oppose to my original plan which was just weekends. I don't know, Im getting a little discouraged. I like to plan my things out in advance and buy the appropriate books before hand. Financial aid told me I wont receive my refund until week 4. Do you really have to get the books for the first few classes or will I be fine without them. I am planning on taking transitions with either health assessment or a math class if all goes well.
  18. The thing that I keep hearing over and over about BSN in general is that there will be a lot of writing. Personally, reading and writing are not my strong points but I will give it my all. I started researching APA style papers and so forth. I'm sure it will be challenging but no where near as hard as what we went through for the ADN. I think that was the worst 2 yrs of school I will ever go through and its so funny how its so hard to find a job now a days with just an ADN yet its the hardest program to pass. After a long break from school I am ready for round 2. I did my research thoroughly and believe Chamberlain is the best program for me. I have heard mostly good things about it. Yes, the down fall is that it is expensive but I was considering NYU and Columbia University at one point so compared to those schools, Chamberlain is the cheapest. I can't wait to start already because I know once we do, time is going to FLY!!!
  19. So how many classes are you taking in total?
  20. Yay! Well so far, it looks like I'll be done in a year but I am still waiting for a school to send in my transcripts to know for sure. I know I will have to take statistics and history elective but the rest I already took. Did you have to take the math placement exam? or did you already have math credits from your previous school? Im definitely taking the transition class first too. Are you going fulltime or part-time? and when are you scheduled to be complete the program?
  21. Hey, do you know any BSN to DNP programs? I've been searching and can not find any...
  22. Hello Nursing World, I will be attending Chamberlain's online program this July (God willing)... I have done all the requirements for admission and now I am just basically waiting to pick out my classes. Is anyone else starting in July? Please share the classes that you are planning to take and let's try to keep in touch so we can help/motivate each other through this process. Also, if anyone out there has completed the program, please share with us your experience and opinion on what classes are best to take together and so forth. I am scared but also so excited to be starting school again. I hope all goes well and I graduate on time.
