  1. Can someone give me the basic idea of what the difference is between being a PN as compared to being an RN? I am going to be starting the PN course in Sept. and want to know exactly what it is I'm in for! I know the basics but, really what is the dif...

  3. Sick to my stomach

I'm embarrassed to post this, but need to get it out.....So, I went into the CPNRE yesterday with total confidence and walked out with none. I studied, did the prep guide x2, read up on my weaknesses and still managed to end up with a good 30 questio...
  4. Sick to my stomach

oops! Thanks traumaRUs, I didn't think about the "copyright" issue.
  5. What is wrong with me?

I feel completely helpless, stupid, unprepared..........it's like everything i have learned in the last 18 months, i have lost. I'm in my final preceptorship, on a day surg unit, and I just watch as i feel as though i know nothing! I know my stuff, i...
  6. PLease help! I suck at essays....

Could anyone give me some advice on writing a paper (in APA) on a case study? We have to write up a nursing care plan, stating 3 nursing diagnosis and choose one diagnosis to discuss. We then have to draw up a plan of care, evaluation (which we can m...

  8. Need relief from anxiety

Sorry, I'm not to sure which 2 meds you are talking about , as I don't see anything in your last post about kinds of meds!
  9. Need relief from anxiety

Anyone here suffering from anxiety? I just started my first year LPN school, and it's increased my anxiety 10 fold! Dr. gave my Ciprilex......is it any good? I was taking clonazepam before bed but that does nothing for the anxiety I suffer during the...
  10. Need relief from anxiety

Ya, I know what to do........I've been suffering from anxiety for 10 years now though and it's really hard to put aside the stubborn attitude that comes along with it ( ie: refusing to take the meds ). I guess I'm just looking for others who are in t...
  11. And to think I wanted to take the BSN program!!

Where are you going to college at? Everyone's schedule is going to be different everywhere you go. I'd show you my schedule but don't have it on the computer. Gotta love the way they cram things in !
  12. Rn Degree online? Or PSW bridging program?

Where are you from? Athabasca does LPN- BSN online as long as you have the prerequisites and 1700 hours work experience.
  13. And to think I wanted to take the BSN program!!

That would be awesome! It's always nice to get the extra help.......I'm still trying to tie up my homework and it's already 10 pm.......only another 1 -2 hrs. of reading and reviewing left, that's all! This is a lot more hectic than I imagined it wou...
  14. Is there such thing as a dumb airhead nurse?

Maybe not so much that they are "airheads" but clumsy or forgetful would be the better term for those they are deeming to be airheads. Some people are just so cruel and rude is the only thing that can come out of their mouths.
  15. Difference between PN and RN.......

Ok, I have asked the difference between LPN and RN, now.......if you go all the way up the ladder to an NP, couldn't you pretty much be considered a Dr., minus the PhD?! I think that the whole PhD thing should be wiped out as nurses are doing Dr.'s j...
  16. And to think I wanted to take the BSN program!!

I forgot to add kudos to those who took or are taking the BSN program, because I'm glad I'm taking this route instead!
  17. Once I am done taking the PN course here in Alberta, my bf and I plan to make a move to BC. How hard will it be to make the switch and what will it take?
  18. Moving to another province and different licensures

I also noticed when searching through the Interior Health job boards that there wasn't as much job opportunity for PN's as RN's. It may be awhile anyways before I get out there!
  19. Moving to another province and different licensures

Thanks......I did hear from someone on my other thread that Albertan nurses get far better training than anywhere else......wonder why that is? So, I could go and apply for the BC exam before I am through the course? I'm just starting into my first y...
  20. Any others trying to quit smoking?

Ya, I'm trying to quit right now, again! This will be the 2nd time this year. It may not work right now since I am just going to begin the first year of PN schooling!
  21. Difference between PN and RN.......

I guess I never thought of all the other responsibilities the LPN had on top of what I seen her do, mind you I wasn't job shadowing with the LPN it was with the HCA's and hearing their side of the story (only) as to the way things are. The facility I...
  22. Difference between PN and RN.......

I didn't mean for it to sound as if PN's made no care decisions, I guess (just more from hearsay) that PN's don't make decisions, that they strictly follow what they are told to do by the RN or physician. I know that what I pp'd sounded like I though...
  23. Difference between PN and RN.......

Thanks to everyone for the positive responses!
  24. Difference between PN and RN.......

Thanks Persephone.......it's just those kinds of attitudes that I will have to get used to! Just because they've been in nursing awhile and think people who ask questions are retarded.......And for your info loriangel14, yes, I do know what nursing i...
  25. Difference between PN and RN.......

The reason I stated what I did was the way you worded this. It sounds like you were saying a starting wage of $12/hr.
