  1. I have only done it a couple of time in extreme circumstances. most of the time i do "fake" fundal. just put my had there and pretend. i can get away with it because i am kind of small so it is hard for me anyway.
  2. This is something funny that one of our docs said. She is hysterical and sometimes doesn't think before she speaks. The primary nuse(which wasn't me) but iwas in the room too checked the pt and was kind of confused by the exam. the previous exam was 2/50%, but the nurse couldn't even find the cervix. just as she was checking the pt the doc came in and said let me check her. so she proceeds to check and remember that the pt has a septum in her lady parts. so she asks the pt if she know that she has this the pt says yes. the doc then turns to the husband and say and i quote "you are a lucky guy, your wife has 2 lady partss!" needless to say we were all hysterical!!
  3. i would push the pit as long as the baby is reactive and watch carefully. i also agree with asking for internals.

I work at a large hspital in l & d also. I have not heard of us having to take the STABLE exam yet, but i can imagine it will happen soon. We also have a lot of responsibility...too much. We deal with it, so they keep piling it on. We just got a new computer charting system where we feel like we are in front of a computer more than with our patients. I just try to stay positive, but it sucks right now, and I love my job too. I will have to keep you posted if we have to take that exam. Hang in there!!
  5. I would also like to add uterine rupture, cord prolapse and actually doing the delivery when the docs don't make it!!
