  1. Great thread Marilyn! I was getting kinda scared thinking about chemistry. I definetly feel more confident now! v
  2. I haven't taken it yet and I don't have to take to become an RN, but I want my BSN so I do need it. I personally LOVE Algebra, but I haven't had it since high school. I always bombed at the boring stuff like literature and history(boring to me at least) and got A's and B's in algebra and science. One girl in class told me yesterday that it was WAY harder than Alegra so I figured I ask. Brett, I'll be PMing you:) v
  3. I was wondering if statistics classes are hard? Is it easier than college algebra? Just wondering:) .
  4. PLEASE close this thread, some people don't like answering simple questions and because of a few people(as well as myself misunderstanding something) this has gotten out of hand!
  5. OKay enough already, I NEVER judged anyone WHERE IS THE IGNORE BUTTON???? I will do a search on the topic and not reply or even look at this thread again!
  6. I agree!:)
  7. Honestly, if I would've known that this thread was going to go this route I would've never posted. The reason I even asked this question was because I just got finished reading Echo Heron's book Intensive Care, and I just started her book Tending Lives. All I wanted to know was how religious or non religious people handled death and sickness everyday.
  8. Originally posted by SmilingBluEyes That quote about the question" being over one's head", directed at Sunnygirl, I believe, is VERY pompous and a huge reason I have walked away from conventional religion in my search for spirituality. It was VERY presumpuous and arrogant. I am out of here as this thread will be way too hot to handle soon enough. Wonder why we cannot entertain other ideas and points of view w/o resorting to insults? Are debating skills THAT weak in some people? ************** You say I assume alot in my posts, well you said that's why you walked away from conventional religion in search of spiritually, so I guess you ASSUME I'm into conventional religion, you are wrong. As I stated this was probably a big misunderstanding. I am a Christian, and yes I have used it to help me, and yes I was wondering how OTHER people involved in religion or not involved in religion handled death and sickness in this profession. I don't think I EVER implied anything about aethists or agnostics NOT BEING ABLE TO HANDLE DEATH. I ASKED ALL EQUALLY RELIGIOUS AND NON-RELIGIOUS HOW DO YOU HANDLE DEATH.
  9. Yes my faith does help me to admit when I am wrong. Perhaps, it was just a misunderstanding on my part.
  10. Sunnygirl, I will apologize if what I said offended you. I was just wondering how people from different or any or no religions handle death and sickness as nurses on a daily basis. That's all. I wasn't implying no one cared I never said that. I was just curious that's all.
  11. I feel that her response was pompous and yours too. You can't blame that on religion. Like I said, I just asked a simple question. I was not implying aethists or agnostics don't care, I asked how do you religious, aethists, or agnostics handle death. Also, if you are looking to people as a basis for not looking at God you will always be disappointed. I'm sure there's an aethist or agnostic somewhere, that has done or said something you don't like. CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK TO THE QUESTION I ASKED, HOW DO YOU COPE WITH DEATH AND SICKNESS, AS A RELIGIOUS PERSON, AGNOSTIC, OR AETHIST .....sheeesh!
  12. My goodness I was just asking a simple question and you brought up caring! I didn't ask if you don't believe in God do you care about people, I asked how do you cope with death and sickness, so I figured it went over your head because you brought up something irrelevant! Oh well, anyway the question remains.
  13. Beautifully Stated!!! I'm not "religious" myself per se, I'm Christian so it's more of a relationship with God that following 10 millions rules you'll break anyway. I too am in awe of God's creation, just reading about how complex the human body is, is TRULY AMAZING!
  14. I understand that, but I asked how do religious, atheists, or agnostics cope with death and sickness. I know you don't have to believe in God to care about people, that's common sense, animals care for their young.
  15. I was wondering does your religion (any) help you in your career as a nurse. I just lost my grandfather and I know that my faith (I'm a christian) helped TREMENDOUSLY in coping with my grandfathers death. For anyone that's religious, an aethist, or agnostic(sp) how do you cope with death and extreme sickness as a nurse? Just wondering
  16. You all ROCK!!!! I'm so glad I've gotten such great advice! I agree with the person who said that starting out you should access your weakness, that's why I want to know AS MUCH as possible about what it takes to be a GREAT nurse, not Good, GREAT! Thanks guys !
  17. My grandfather always stressed the importance of common sense. He'd always tell his grandchildren, you don't see a rabbit carrying a backpack, but he knows how to survive! :roll I know that you have to be caring, have empathy, and compassion, I've got that part down. I just wanted to be sure I have what it takes to make it through nursing school! I'm going to do my best, study hard, and put the rest of my life on the back burner when I start nursing school.
  18. I not a dummy ( I don't think hee hee) but I know I'm not "brilliant" either. I scored a 24 on my ACT. I have an IQ of about 123, so I'm no Einstein, but do I have to be to be a nurse? I love math and science but I don't like stuff like calculus. What do you have to be REALLY good at to make it through nursing school? I'm just taking prerequ's right now, but I want opinions about this because I don't want to jump into something that I can't complete. If anyone else had these thoughts please do tell! My kitty
