Took NCLEX today with 75 questions! What does that mean? I think I flunked.
Well...I am in the same boat as all of you were...I have been an LPN for 3 years. Just sat for my RN on Monday, June 1st 2009. My test shut off at 75 questions and I think I read the last one wrong and it seemed easy and I think now that i answered it wrong. I was so overwhelmed when I started. It started with a disease I knew nothing about and got harder from there. Then got easier..then harder..then last few seemed easy..and i have heard that this isn't good. I was not able to take the Kaplan so I kept doing ATI's. I do not feel confident at all that I passed. And of course not results as of yet. Keep me in your prayers please, and I am very sick from all of this! Thanks, Jill in Indiana

RN Program..ADVICE NEEDED
I had one A, 2 B's, and one C, and a TEAS of I think high 70's and got in the Muncie program in 2005. I am just finishing the transitional RN program now. I had 2 A's and 2 B's and a TEAS of 82% for that one. I retook the class I had a C in and ended up with an A to get into the transitional. So if you can make it into the LPN, it is not as hard to get into the transitional RN usually.

How did you react to your first code?
OK, I will probably sound like an idiot for this question, but here go's anyway. I am an LPN and have been for a bit over 2 years now. Have worked in LTC, and now am on psych. I have not witnessed any codes. I am in RN school and have 2 semesters left. I always imagine myself working in a critical care unit, not sure why. I do love adrenaline rushes, maybe that is why. But I also love to bond w/ my pts. My biggest fear is a code. What exactaly is the nurses responsibility in a code situation? I know you obviously maitain the ABC's, but what do you do after the team arrives? When someone is "recording", what does that mean? I'm assuming it means documenting everything that is said and done, but how could you possibly "record" all that chaos? Any insight into the nurses dutys in a code siutation would be greatly appreciated. I feel my assessment skills are good for a fairly new nurse, but I am terrified of the "code" situation. Thanks, Jill:bow:

Muncie LPN!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations...And it looks like you will only have to take another of the science classes like you said..ANP201, Chem, orPhysics...You can pick one, cause you only have to have 2 now instead of all 4, and you already have the Micro done. Then you will just have a 1 credit hour class to pick from that is a sinch. They are something like IvyTech LifeSkills classes. There are several to choose from and in Muncie they let us pick. But you don't have to have either of those done to apply for transitional program. I am currently in it in Muncie. They only classes they use for scores when you apply are: ANP 101 ANP 102 PSY 101 ENG 111 And then they take your highest TEAS score too. You also get 3 points added when applying if you are in that schools district. Jill:up:

Used Chem book
Ok all, I just got online to view the syllabus for online Chem 101, and I'm freaken. I just ordered my book, well actually won it on Ebay yesterday, so I wont be getting it until sometime this week if I'm lucky. But after viewing the first chapter he has posted online, I think I may have gotten the wrong book. Is it the one w/ the big, white flower on it by Bettelheim? Mine says it was published in 2006, but his online says 2004, so now I am worried I have the wrong book. Also, the one I won on ebay did not mention a bundle pack, and a solutions manual. I did purchase the PIN online. Do I really need the solutions manual? I am so broke right now, my financial aid is not through yet d/t diffidulties w/ financial aid office. Anyway, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jill:bow:

Used Chem book
Howdy Stranger, No, I do not have to take Pharm!..Thank God! I just have my transition class and then the Chem. So 8 credit hours. And now that I am going to Muncie, we are only going 3 days a week for an 8 week session...YEAH! Orientation was kind of unorganized...LOL..Just like I remember the LPN orientation. I sure am nervous about this Chem class though. Did you get my email I sent you last week? Anyway, hope all is going well. Jill:up:

Muncie LPN!!!!!!!!!!!
Brenda, I am taking Micro in person at Muncie. I love it so much. The labs are the best. Well, I did it!! I just signed up for the Intro Chemistry too and dropped the ANP201. LOL...If this guy does give you the notes and it is pretty easy to follow, I better take it while I can. So I am in with you. Do you think I can handle doing the Interpersonal Communications for the psych online this summer as well? How many assignments did you have in communications? Was there alot of papers to write? Do you remember who you had for either comm. or psych online? Well, we are all ready to jump in again, like it or not! So I'll prepare to hold on for what i'm sure will be a bumpy ride. Tootles, Jill:up:

So it sounds like I guess I should take something a bit more easy in the summer...LOL..When are you taking the online Chemistry? And how can we be sure to get that instructor you mentioned everyone likes so much? Astlavista, Jill:bugeyes:

Muncie LPN!!!!!!!!!!!
Brenda, I can not find where to look that info up. I am going to Marion remember? We had to apply at Muncie and they picked which college you attend according to addresses. And since I don't have a Muncie address, they put me in Marion. Can you tell me how to look up Marion? I'm lost...LOL...I tried but with no luck as of yet. Thanks, Jill:bow:

Muncie LPN!!!!!!!!!!!
Brenda, My orientation is not until April 22nd. Which is another reason I am not sure how to proceed with my 3 co-reqs that I still need to complete. I suppose if I call the office they may advise me of which to take if any for summer semester. I am in micro right now as well. I attend class at muncie campus and i absolutely love it. I'm so confused though as to what to do about the 3 co-reqs. Oh the stresses, will they ever end?...LOL:cry: Jill:banghead:

Muncie LPN!!!!!!!!!!!
:bow:Brenda, No I am not planning on going for my BSN. But I will only have my Microbiology done out of the 2 science classes we have to choose. My friend who went through the transitional a few years back had to have all 4 of them. And she advised doing the ANP 201 instead of Chem or Physics. She said it was much easier. She also said the summer session of transitional was really easy, just the tranition to RN class which she said was basically a waste of time. So I just figured it would be best to take the extra class in summer. I still have to do the extra psychology and interpersonal communications. So I wanted to take one extra class a semester, as to not be too overwhelmed. Any info you have though is greatly appreciated. Let me know if you know any different. I want to plan this the best I can, but I have never me with an acutal advisor all through school. Thanks Jill:bow:

Muncie LPN!!!!!!!!!!!
:up:Mrs Frog or anyone who took ANP 201 online, I signed up for the online ANP 201 today in Muncie, it says it is out of Terre Haute. My question is this; why does it have a day and time on it if it is an online class? Don't they offer this class totally online? I thought peope said they took it online and only had to go to one lab day in Terry Haute, but it has Wed. from like 8a-11a down as time of class. So, i'm a bit confused rifht now, cause I thought you could take it totally online, and I would like to. I start the transitional program this summer, and still need ANP 201. Thanks, Jill:bow:

Muncie LPN!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes....I got it today!...I GOT IN!!!!!!!...LOL:yeah:..But remember how I told you they take apps for Marion and Muncie? They let 20 in Muncie and 20 in Marion, and they decide where you go according to the city you live in? Well, I live a few miles outside of Muncie, so I got chosen for the Marion campus. Which is still ok, cause it's only about 35-40 mins away from me. I don't care...Just know I have no more waiting...Now to try and keep good grades will be the challenge. I did greatin LPN never below a B, but i'm sure it is a different story now. Thanks for you support, Jill
