  1. How many hours a week did you put into your classes? Did you have clinical hours ? I would love to hear more about your classes and assignments. I've checked them out online and can't get a grasp of what the course load would look like. I work full time w/ some on call responsibilities and also have a family...really need to be sure I can do it before I jump in!! Congrats to you!! Thanks:)
  2. Thanks so much for replying! I'm excited but a little nervous. Can you give me any general ideas on what the course covers so I can review? For instance, how much do they concentrate on the A&P of the skin? I would love some general outline topics, my job is sending me w/ a promotion on the line so I need to pass and want to go in with as much fore-knowledge as possible. Thx!!!
  3. I will be taking the WCC exam in 8 weeks and would like to know if anyone knows what the best study route would be? I have "Wound Care Essentials" by Baranoski & Ayello and have been researching journal articles, but I would love a more detailed plan of study. Any ideas? Also I would love any info on the course content in order to help prepare. Thanks.
  4. Thanks...I appreciate your kindness. I'm praying for favor and mercy!!
  5. I had a pre-employment urine drug test on wed. and failed. I took a tylenol #3 the day before, not even thinking. The problem was the prescription is not mine but my husbands. It was an old script that I found in the cupboard , motrin hadn't worked for my headache so I took one.( I know as a nurse I should know better ) I have never taken any drugs...illegal or controlled sub. of any kind.I never have a second thought about the test because I've never taken any drugs, ask me to pee in a cup and I will, i had nothing to hide. It was a very stupid mistake.I now have to wait all weekend to talk to HR, cause the employee health people said it will be their decision if the decide to retest or recind my offer. I am a new grad and had finally landed the job now I'm afraid that I'll lose it. Anyone know if this may be a forgiveable offense? I have never failed a drug test and honestly never taken any pain meds except after childbirth. PLEASE do not respond and tell me how stupid I was or how I should have known better. I am sick about this and am only looking for positive advice or responses.
  6. Did not realize that. I did a search for nursing salary info on the site and it put me right into that thread. I did not realize it was a NY thread. Certainly wouldn't of asked the question had I realized that.
  7. Can anyone tell me the starting salary for RNs on the oncology unit at Wheeling hospital in WV? Also any info on the hospital and/or oncology unit? Thanks!
  8. I just graduated from CCAC south campus. It's a very hard program, but I believe it should be. I chose CCAC for the price and also to get ADN instead of diploma, now I'm not sure it matters. If you want to get your BSN, some schools have arrangments with universities that allow for so many credits towards BSN for diploma grads. I also am having a hard time finding a job and if you go to a hospital school the usually hire you. I understand thats not a given in this economy, but I know Washington Hospital hired all of their grads in dec, it definetely increases your chances. I also believe that hospital schools have better clinical experiences. CCAC clinicals leave alot to be desired. Your instructors are not always (50% of the time for me) familiar with the unit, staff, or even hospital. The staff are not always welcoming to students, they often act as you are an annoyance. Its a terribly awkward position for a new student to be in. Whereas, in a hospital school the staff are all familair w/ the instructors and vice versa. They also are used to constant student presence, and more accomadating because school is directely part of the hospital they are employed at. just some ideas, these are things I wish i would have thought about before I chose CCAC. Either way, be ready to work hard.
