  1. You should have insurance....you need someone watching your back and not you AND you employer.
  2. I have as many as 33 pts. to pass meds too. I got 3 cna's under me who take vitals, pass trays and do the changing. But the work is still brutal. Passing meds to pts. who want them NOW not 20 min. from now is rough. I always finish late, what with meds, charting, and if we have a new admit I gotta do the paperwork cuz there's no unit secretary (not at 3-11 where I work....or more like 3-to whenever I finish). I'm a new nurse and this is my first nursing job.....but I'm already trying to find someplace diffrent.
  3. I'm a new LVN in California and I'm currently making $19 an hour. I don't know if that helps or if that's the average.
  4. Keep your head up. I know it's frustrating. It took me 3 months to land my first job in a LTC facility once I got my license. I actually preferred a hospital but they kept passing me up. You may not land the job you want at first but if you apply all over the place then sooner or later someone will come and grab you.
  5. I just got hired for my first job an an LVN in a convalescent center. My starting pay is $18.50 an hour. My question is what should I expect as a new nurse? I know it can be different wherever you go but I am really nervous. Also....is my pay rate low, average or high for a new nurse? For the record I live in California.
  6. I barely passed anatomy and physiology. I was somehow able to pull out a B on the final to end up with a C. So far micro is pretty hard for me.
  7. I just got my vn license and I'm having trouble finding work in a hospital. Is it easier to get hired in a long term care facility or convalescent home?
  8. I just passed the nclex exam for lvn's in california. I currently make $8 an hour on my current job. How much per hour can i expect to make as a new lvn? It would help i.f you live in california so I have a general idea but if you don't live here that's ok...any help will do.
  9. Hey there. I'm from cali too. I took the nclex-pn on sept. 27 and STILL have no results yet. I'm going nuts over here. I tried calling the board (which they say don't do) but can't get in touch with a live human being. My name is not on the verification page yet so I'm really worried. I'm just hoping they are really backed up in terms of posting. Anyways...your not alone at being bummed out. As for me I did 205 questions. Good luck to you....I hope you pass!
  10. I took the nclex in california 5 weeks ago this thursday and have not recieved my results yet. I tried calling the board but failed to reach someone with a heartbeat. I tried the the licence verification page but my name is not there. Does it mean i didn't pass? Or do i get my results before they post my licence? Please help...I'm at the end of a short rope!
