Failed NCLEX three times
I understand. I have failed it 3 times also, and have been out of school for over 2 years. UGH... I am trying to pull myself together and retake it... BUT UGH. I don't know when and where to start. Good luck to you and annie027 is right. We have to trust God has a plan. Study more and retake...

Passing NCLEX (tried twice no luck)
I too go through thoughts of giving up. It has been over 2 years since I graduated school, and I REALLY struggle with how to proceed. I have taken boards three times, and signed up through a different state for the fourth time (I am in FL) and then when it came close, I choked and cancelled it... Granted I just had a baby, BUT, still. I really don't know how to proceed. I just don't even feel like a nurse anymore... So here I am again, I took the NCLEX last fall, so it's almost a year since then... I have taken Kaplan twice, Hurst review once, have spent THOUSANDS since school has ended for reviews etc... And now I'm just lost. What does one person DO with a nursing degree, and yet no nursing license? It is a strange state of affairs for sure...

failed boards
Suzanne; I have another question. I have a friend who is in the same boat as me. She has taken the NCLEX 3 times and failed. BUT she took it twice in FL and then the third time in GA. She is taking it again this week in GA. She was told that if she passes she can just transfer her license to FL. But if I understand what you are saying, she has still taken the test 4 times, and when she transfers to FL, the BON here will tell her that she too will have to do the remedial class before transfer since she has sat for the test more than three times? Thanks in advance...

failed boards
Seriously Suzanne... I know you think I'm doing this the hard way. And after I just read the above statement that you wrote concerning that this would be my last attempt, I just called the FL BON. Either the lady I spoke to is incompetent (no offense) or the FL BON really haven't heard of this before, but when I just told her that after failing boards three times in FL, I am now sitting in GA. Once I pass in GA, what do I need to transfer the license, she JUST FIVE MINUTES AGO, told me I would not have to do the remedial class if I have the license. I again stressed to her, I took boards in FL 3 times, did not pass. I am taking them now in GA. Once I pass what do I do? She said if I HAVE my license they will transfer it. Remedial class NOT needed... So I ask you, WHAT is the deal. IS there no set rule on this? Why is there different answers within the state board and others concerning licensing? Really. I do need to slow down and think about this. Thanks for any advice you've given me and will give me. I will be an RN... I will be an RN... just when? And where? please PM me if you want to or just reply here. Are there any other nurses in FLORIDA that have gone this route? Or am I completely nuts? Thanks! PS. I don't know if I'm grasping at straws or what. I just know that I can't give up. When I see all of the people on these boards that have tested 5 - 6 -7 times, I know that I can't give up and it still can be done. I am in no way trying to sound like I have the answers, GOD knows I don't. Only he does, but I know that I have to keep trying, and if I can't get straight answers out of my own states BON, then I have to go other routes. There has to be others out there in FL that have had set backs like this. Can I be the only one? No. Not possible. Thanks!

Hurst Review
I on the other hand took Kaplan and have not passed the exam after 3 attempts. I took Kaplan twice, and really don't know why I haven't failed. I too did all the Q trainer questions and I even renewed my online service with them before my 3rd attempt. I was doing abou 80-100 questions daily. I did Suzanne's plan, and I am starting the first tip again this week. I figure if I do that before the Hurst Review in Dec. at least I am looking at questions again attempting to have some kind of plan. Thanks everyone and good luck to all!

Hurst Review
Thank you very much. I signed up for the Hurst Review and will be taking it in December. I would love to hear from anyone else who has taken it. I would especially like to hear from anyone that took it after failing boards and how it helped you. THANKS...

failed boards
Thanks for the response. Time? Yes... I graduated school in May of 2007... I have tested three times since then. It has now been over 4 months of not even looking at NCLEX books, and longer than that since I've felt like a nurse. And yes... when I'm at work and 'see' the nurses that are working and didn't have any problems with the NCLEX, I KNOW I can be as competent or better nurses than them. Time is not on my side, I know, but enough time has gone by now that I WANT THIS SO BAD... Thanks for the advice.

failed boards
Thanks for the response. My thought being that I cannot do the remedial class right now (super expensive) and I am pregnant, and the remedial class is classroom and CLINICAL time, 4 months long and is it $1200.00? !!! It is only $40.00 to register with Ga BON as oppossed to FL $150.00, and I can sit for multiple times in GA (jsut shoot me now if more than one more time.) I can ONLY test one more time in FL total, and then that's it... And I have not heard of anyone or should say I have not heard FROM anyone failing more than four times in FL getting there license in FL after that. They have to go out of state then anyway. Or am I wrong? Every time I call the FL board of nursing, I get different answers talking to different people. This forum does not seem to have too many people on it that have tested as many times as me in FL, at least not too many that talk about it... So I am trying to keep going... And yes, later on I will have to pay more money to do the remedial class, and yes then transfer of license fees, etc... but at least I'm not waiting around not testing NOW... And the longer it goes on, the harder it seems to get. The boards are a NATIONAL test, so passing in Ga, I am still an RN, I'll just have to then work harder to be able to practice here. Or move my family to Ga for two years, and then they (FL BON) will transer my license. Input, advice, and encouragement desparately wanted... Thanks again.

Any thoughts anyone? Thanks...

Hurst Review
His Nurse, I would like to know what you liked about it? I am thinking about taking the review in Tampa in December, and would like to know what you thought and any others. I will be taking boards for the 4th time sometime at the end of the year beginning of Jan. 2009... I have taken Kaplan twice, and obviously I haven't gotten out of it what others have, as I haven't passed yet. I work in a busy hospital and some of the nurses have suggested Hurst either online or live, and would really like to know what you and others think. It has been so long since I've felt like a nurse, and I really don't know what to do with my studying, and how to structure it, and really feel I need some classroom time. THANKS to any responses in advance.:wink2:

failed boards
Can anyone tell me if they failed boards in FLORIDA 3 times, then retest in another state, (GA.), and then take the remedial class to be able to practice here? I have taken nclex 3 times, and because of family issues and money (remedial class is like $1200.00), I can't do the remedial class until next year, so I am hoping take the NCLEX in Ga (much cheaper) and then worry about the remedial class in Fl. I've sent my money and application to the Ga BON, so I'm just about set to sit for them again... Just wondering if anyone has done this? I know this seems insane, but you can't retest in FL until after remedial class once you fail three times. And God, please no, if for some reason I did test again in FL, and fail, I've heard (all rumor) that you cannot test again in FL... EVER... So, rambling on... Has anyone done this? Any thoughts and advice would be great. THANKS... Hoping to retest December or the first two weeks in Jan... I will be a nurse. I will be a nurse. I will be a nurse...

FLORIDA remedial course before boards ...
Thanks for the reply... When did you friend do the remedial class? I know it is a LOT more expensive now, and the time frame is longer too. UGH... I will probably sit in GA, like I'm thinking, and then worry about the class after I have my baby. Thanks for your input. I also keep getting conflicting reports on whether I could just endorse the license to FL without taking the remedial class if I am licensed in GA first. I have another friend that did take it in GA for her third time after taking it twice in FL, and she definately won't have to take the remedial class once she passes the exam in GA... BUT it is different if you sit three times total in Fl and don't pass. UGH.

FLORIDA remedial course before boards ...
Hello... I am wondering if anyone from Florida has taken the remedial class in Florida and what it entails? I have failed boards three times, and took a break, and now I want to try again. I am probably going to test in Ga, b/c it is less money, and then when I pass, worry about the remedial class in Florida... I am newly pregnant, and high risk, so I'm wondering if I should do the remedial class NOW, or just take boards and then worry about the class after the baby is born. Please, any advice or experiences would be great. You can PM me... THANKS!

Is Kaplan overrated?
I really agree with this. Took Kaplan twice. Boards three times... I'm in limbo now. hmmm... It's not just me.

NCLEX result
Times that by 3 AND you have... me. I feel for you. I know you won't want to hear this, but life goes on, you'll pick up the pieces and get through it. I took mine for the 3rd time june 13... I cannot believe it still, but... I had lots of meds, and lots of SATA's... This bed board gives great support, so keep signing on. I am in FL, and I just sent off my fees to test out of state, just to keep moving foward. Don't know when I'll sit again, I just had to do something. GOOD LUCK!!!

ADN to BSN w/o passing NCLEX
Thank you for all the replies! You're all right, I'm sure. Just trying to figure things out. One of the reasons that I thought I'd go back to school, rather than retest right away, is because "I've heard", in Florida that after the 3rd attempt, if not successful, you have to do a remedial class, that if I got the information correct, costs $1400.00, and includes classroom and clinical work, and is OVER SIX MONTHS??? Does anyone know if this is correct? I have not contacted the state yet, I'm still waiting for my "packet". So, that's where I'm at. Thanks for all the support and information!

ADN to BSN w/o passing NCLEX
I have a question... I recently took the NCLEX, again..., for the third time here in Florida, and having not passed it, I need to regroup and decide which direction to go in. A friend of mine suggested going back to school and getting my bachelors at USF, and then taking boards again. I live in Bradenton, and this would give me focus, and a PLAN, and also give me some downtime from the NCLEX exam, and also getting more education. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Has anyone ever done that? I am struggling w/o passing NCLEX, and almost everywhere I read, those with the bachelor's degree seem to have a higher pass rate on the NCLEX. Thanks in advance for the replies. PM me if you want or just post here...

June 2008 NCLEX support group
I posted this on another thread (about Peason results), but I wanted it to reach both groups, so here it is: If it's not kosher for me to put it on both threads, than please moderators, PLEASE leave it on this one... Thanks... SO... IT IS OFFICIAL. I did not pass for the third time. After dreading the results, because as I stated earlier, my results were not posted... days later. So... I contatcted Pearson today, they told me that NCSBN pulled my test, and my results were not available... HUH????????? Has anyone heard of this? They gave me the phone number and I called. At first I was told, no that did not happen, the results should be available... blah blah... but then she put me on hold, and about 8 minutes later, she came back online and said yes, they did pull my exam, that sometimes they randomly pull exams and grade them by hand??? to check results. Anyway, my results would be available by 11AM. So I got home, about ten min. ago, checked pearson, and found out I did not pass. NOT HAPPY. Incredibly sad... I am going to cross post this on the June test takers thread. I think I am the first of the month, if not, the first of the month for repeat test takers. I cannot believe this, as I was INCREDIBLY prepared for this test... Back to square one? I don't know what to think. But I went in sooo positive, so ready... My testings went from July 2007 190 questions , Nov 2007 to 230 questions, to this time June 13th, all 265 questions... I've done Kaplan, I've done, ERI (through school), I went from using every book I could get my hands on, which I was told was overkill (too much material) to using just the Saunders book, and doing Suzanne's plan. Am I the first person to not pass using this plan? Suzanne: Please let me know what you would suggest my next step to be? Thanks for any advice from all... UGH, I had a GREAT job lined up... Oh well.... Maybe I'm meant to be an ER Tech for now. I have to believe that God knows the plan he has for me, but just wants to keep it to himself for now. Take care and good luck to all!

Whats The Longest U Had To Wait To Get Nclex Results Back???
talk about panicking... i took my exam on friday, and no word yet, and from what i can tell, no news is definately not good news here in fl... usually within 24 hrs if you passed the license is posted up on the website of the board of nursing. also, not helping in the panic mode, florida does have quick results, and there is nothing quick about this one, as my results are not up yet. have pearson ever screwed up and lost an entire exam and its results? good luck to you!

Pearson Quick Results
Well congratulations, and good luck to you as a new RN. I have taken my boards this past Friday, and still NO RESULTS either way. Not a good feeling...... I don't want to rain on anyones parade but at this point, can the news be good? No Quick Results available, nor is it on the Florida BON, and as everyone that has tested in FLknows, that is NOT a good sign, as they are usually on the website (licenses posted I mean), BEFORE the pearson quick reviews are done. IF ANYONE has a different experience in FL, and after 4 days, you still have "passed" please let me know. I am FREAKING out. ... I need some good news, and a break. This is attempt number 3 for me. THANKS!
-
Just took NCLEX with LOTS of calculations/select all that apply
Thank you for the replies... Yes Florida participates in the quick vue. A friend of mine got her results yesterday, and she took them on Friday also. She passed. And a few others also... My dread is that if you don't pass it, then it takes them "longer" to post quick results??? Thanks again!

failed nclex 3 times
Question? You said you took the LPN exam today for the first time after taking the RN exam 3 times? Can you challenge the LPN exam being an RN-school grad? Thanks...
