  1. hello, well i am walking your shoes completely! i started on ccu 2 months ago and came from a med-serge, telemetry unit with 3 years of experience, doing charge and presepting there. we are sooooo brave to go to icu. i feel as a new grad, but is it fun. however, our icu nurses have a bad reputation and i found that is true. they are not nice, they are judging people around them and criticize them. a lot of politics. i don't like this. i came from very friendly environment. one of my goals is not to become "one of them" and to try to change the working environment around me. i am very cheerful person and like to receive the respect that i am giving too. well, not on my new floor. i am overstressed with the politics around me. otherwise, my preceptors are ok, they are surprised of my performance. i was born overseas and have an accident. a coworker told me that the people in icu does not give me enough credit for my performance but tend to judge me first due to my accent.
  2. I had the same feeling and I wanted to rescheduled it but everyone told me not to. And I didn't, turned that I was prepared. Kaplan:the questions are easier but they give you a strategy how to aswear the question. You are learning how to think. I did not pass my HESI and I still did ok on NCLEX . If you stragle with HEsi just ignore it. It does not matter. I used Kaplan course book (500$ are overpriced for the course but you can just order the online one with the same success) and Souders (if I did not remember soome topic I read it there)Hopefully that helps you.
  3. I studied about 2 months but not every day. I tired to review everything at the end for 4 days/ 5-6 hours a day. You have to know the matherial so you will be able to know what they are asking.
  4. Hello! I took my Nclex on Feb 26 and I passed. I want just to share my experience so it can be used for new grads who are preparing right now. 1. Even you study H/7 d a week you never ever be absolutely sure that you are ready. Learn how to answer the question and KNOW THE MATERIALS. You can not apply any strategy if you don't know the material! No way! 2. Kaplan helps but I thought their questions are much more easier than Nclex. It still is a good idea to take that review. They strategy helps but not enough! 3. Do not reschedule. If you have a feeling that you are not prepared, just take your time, as wear the questions but do not reschedule. Nclex is 40 % of luck! 4. I had a lot of math questions and probably they saved me, so the computer shut off at Th question. 5. Labs, labs, labs 6. Meds-the nightmare of everyone. I had a lot of questions and meds are not my strength, still I answered them correctly. Take your time and THINK,THINK, THINK. 7. GOOD LUCK, AS i SAID NCLEX IS KIND OF A CHANCE. YOU KNOW IT OR YOU WILL ANSWER IT. If I could do it everyone can!
