New Nurse..just wondering....
Now, my CPR certification expired a little while ago. I just found out that I passed my nclex and I have sent for my license. Can I look for jobs and expect to get hired? Would I have to renew my CPR cert first? I just want to work already.

No experience!
I'm a grad LVN. Still waiting for my results abt nclex in mail. I'm starting to worry because I really have no experience in health care at all other than the fact that my son was born with a serious CHD. My work experience consists of a newspaper delivery driver at night. Was it hard to find a job as an LVN? I am so ready to work!

to those in cali, has anyone waited longer than 4 weeks for NCLEX results?
6 FRIGGEN WEEKS!!!! That is madness! I took mine on Oct 25th and I will be so angry if I have to wait longer than 4 weeks! I feel for you! Hope everyone gets their results sooner than later.

Calling all LPNs?? What is and is not in your Scope of Practice compared to an RN?
I think it all depends on your state and the place in which you work. I haven't had the opportunity to work as an lvn yet ( still waiting my results). As a student though, I was always told PO, IM, Sub Q, and Intradermal. An LVN can be IV certified but can't hang anything with Meds. Just fluids. Basic nursing skills.

I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.
In Maslow's heirachy of needs physical needs comes before all else. Then I believe it's safety, Love and belonging, and then self- actualization.

My nclex pn cost 200 dollars. I was told by a fellow classmate that when you passed you will be required to pay an additional 100-150$ for your license. I can't remember the exact amount. So hopefully I'll find out in about 5 more days the results and then I can give you an exact amount.

Age you will/were graduated?
I was the baby of the class. I was 19 when I finished lpn and turned 20 2 months after completion.

Bummed abt Nclex.
Yeah, honestly I'm doing much better now. I rarely think about it now lol. I'm so preoccupied with worry about how hard it is to find a job as a new nurse with no experience in health care that I have no time to think about the nclex lol. So the results will come when they come. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

In response to Diahni. Yes the nursing process, maslow's, and the ABC's. LIVE THOSE LOL. Your patient always comes first in any questions. For example... pt is complaining of SOB, what do you do first? Fowlers, check o2 sat, or auscultate. You stabilize your pt first.

Ya know, I was so anxious going into the test and then felt so much emotion coming out of the test that it really was a big blurr for me. I can honestly say I remember about 5 questions exactly. Other than that I know I got a lot on diet. LIke with common dz, what type of food selections would you choose for the patient. Diet and culture I would say was a big deal, at least in my test. I did get a lot of select all that apply, priority, and the correct order ones. I think as far as the priority goes, if you remember the ABC'S of nursing you should really have no problem. On the Saunder's pn practice CD there is about 85 priority questions. Its in the content area with all the systems..ie integ, endo, cardio, resp. You can choose to just take the priority portion of the test. Another thing I would recommend too is to study your diagnostics. Like prep, during, and post procedure. Like I said before, its really not all its cracked up to be. I thought it was going to be this impossible test. Its reallly not. Try to relax and READ the questions and understand what its asking you. On a couple of questions I got gun ho and as soon as I pressed next I was like SHOOT!! So hopefully I passed! I have a long time before my results. If I didn't then I'll just study and pass it the next time. Good luck to all!

I felt the same way that you did! Surprisingly though I was very relaxed taking the test and flew through the questions. I got tons of priority, select all that apply, and the correct order ones. Sucked because I am really crappy at those ones. I studied my butt off three weeks before the test and honestly it was a WASTE OF MY TIME. Absolutely nothing that I studied was on the test. Not even one lab value. I busted my butt for no reason. I don't really think the nclex is all its cracked up to be. Its just our nerves that get a hold of us. I was happy when it shut off so early but on my drive home I started remembering questions and then I freaked. So I am patiently waiting my results. About 3 more weeks left. Hopefully I passed. I'm much more relaxed and looking more on the positive side. Whatever happens happens. I did my part. I probably have bought every book at Barnes n nobles on nursing. NO JOKE! I found that while studying it really helps to be consistent with the books that you are studying. STICK WITH ONE BOOK. I bounced back and forth. It only hurt me in the end. I too got a lot of religion and culture. I didn't study that because I didn't think it would be on the test but....... STUDY THAT!! I think Saunders was the best. There are priority questions on the saunders cd. Its in the area with the systems.

Bummed abt Nclex.
lol, I just realized instead of writing one month I wrote four. So my mistake. I will find out in one month.
-
Bummed abt Nclex.
No, I'm in one of the few states(Cali) that does not participate in the quick results program.

Bummed abt Nclex.
For four months. CRAZY! This is so ridiculous. They are going to cause our fellow nursing students to die with anticipation!

Bummed abt Nclex.
Thanks. I know, but no matter how much I try to just stop thinking about it it keeps running through my mind.

Bummed abt Nclex.
So I just took my nclex this morning. Pretty bummed because I don't feel like I passed. It cut off at 86 and I'm going back and forth through my head and looking in all my books abt questions I can remember and trying to find the answeres.
