  1. I highly reccomend looking at the accelerated BSN program since you already have a bachelors degree, I will also look at the direct-entry MSN program. Accelerated BSN programs are an outstanding program for people starting a second career and who already have a bachelors degree. I spoke with a nurse from the CNA(Center for American Nurses) and she encouraged me to apply to accelerated BSN program. I plan to apply to an accelerated BSN before I retire from the military.

  3. Has anyone here applied or have been accepted into the UT Austin Alternate Entry MSN program, and if so can you share your experiences?
  4. I think the accelerated BSN is great for people who already have their bachelors degree. I'm currently working on my MBA/MSHS degree and plan to apply to accelerated BSN program before I retire from the military. I could have gone through Exceslior ADN program, but my goal is to get my BSN degree, and I feel that I will learn more in a traditional classroom and with hands on clinicals. I spoke with a nurse recruiter at a local nursing program and she said that I have already completed 40/60 pre-reqs for the Accelerated program. Here is great article:http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/search/s_498320.html
  5. Coast Guard, I wont retire for another 10 years, and will complete my MBA next year.
  6. What's up Guys I'm in the military and plan to do 30 years. I'm currently enrolled in a MBA/MSHS program. A lot of people say that I should pursue my nursing degree(Which is an ADN) online through exceslior, but I really love the class room instruction and feel that I learn better that way. I talked with a nursing school recruiter at UTMB in Galveston, TX that offers the accelerated BSN program and she said that I have compelted 40/60 pre-reqs for that program.I just dont feel comfortable in doing the EC ADN program, and dont have the time to dedicate to this program. My goal is to get my BSN degree along with my MBA/MSHS degree. UTMB has a great nursing program, and when I retire I plan to move back to Texas and hopefully start their program. I know people have had success with doing the ADN online program through EC, but I dont see this working for me. I want to learn the material and have interactions with professors. I see a lot of people who have had long careers going into the accelerated BSN program. Any thoughts? Thanks God bless Dexter
  7. Has anyone here used Istudysmart to pass EC nursing exams, and how would you rate ISS study materials?
  8. Thanks again, I have no excuse to finish this military personnel can take all of the exams before enrolling just read that on EC's website.
  9. Thanks for your words of encouragement, are the new exams similar to the original?
  10. I had EC to evaluate my transcripts a couple of years ago, and they said they the only pre-reqs I need is A&PII and Lifespan and development plus all of the NC exams and CPNE. I have been putting it off. I'm enrolled in a masters degree program now, and after that I'm going to motivate myself to finish getting my ADN degree with God's help. I'm currently in the military and my initial plan was to apply to an accelerated BSN program before I retire, but why do that when EC has already accepted me into their program. I have been in the militay for 19 years and plan to do 30 years. I was pleased that EC accepted military corpsman into their program. Tommorow I will call EC to evaluate my transcripts again. I keep telling myself that I know I can do it, and I just cant listen to negative people, because these same people say that EC is not a good program because it is online. When I retire I plan to move back to Texas, and the Texas board of nursing does accept EC grads.
  11. Which study material will better prepare you to pass the EC NC exams, study guides from Ebay, test prep companies, or the textbooks reccomended by EC.
  12. When I retire I would have had over 10 years of healthcare management experience and I 'm currently a member of ACHE. Really I can apply for a healthcare management position that doesn't require a RN Degree. As I stated before I love dealing with patients and would like to do nursing for a couple of years eventhough I will be retired. Would Getting the RN degree along with my years of healthcare management experience in the military,MHA/MBA degree make me competitive for the top hospital administartor jobs?
  13. I'm 37 years old and have been in the military for 19 years as a medical corpsman, and plan to do 30 years. I'm currently enrolled in a MHA/MBA dual degree program. My passion is patient care and management. I had a meeting with a recruiter from a local nursing program and she said that after reviewing my transcripts that I have already completed 40/60 pre-reqs plus my bachelors degree required for the accelerated BSN program. I would like to apply to this program before I retire, and once I have been a nurse for couple of years, I would like to pursue a healthcare mangement job. Some people have said I should apply for a top healthcare mangement job and avoid nursing because they said my advanced degree is too high for this position. When I'm retired I can devote full time to an accelerated BSN program. Should I pursue my BSN?
  14. I currently working on masters degree in health care management/MBA. I have been in the military for 18 years and have over 12 years of healhtcare experience, and over 5 years of health care management experience. I plan to do 30 years in the military, and want to apply to the accelerated BSN program before I retire. A lot of people said that it will be a waste of time because I have done enough patient care and I need to pursue high level management positions. I Had a meeting with a recuiter from a local nursing program and she said that I only need to complete a few pre-reqs for the accelerated BSN program, and she said that she will keep my application on file until I apply before I retire, and she said that I can meet with dean of student affairs if I wanted to. I love patient care and love managment too. I would love to pursue nursing as a second career. After reading a great article on nurses I have found that field is my passion. Please advise Thank you
