JCCC Part 2
FYI>>>>> KCKCC will only accept 10 of there 55 students from outside Levenworth and Wyondotte County. Yes JCCC is the only program I am applying for. I talked to my contact at the school and she said letters should be mailed latter next week. 'Cross your fingers' The problem I am facing now is trying to find the drive to actually do the RN program...I will have to keep working full time, 11pm-7am, the the RN program is like 8-5 m-f. I have heard that the first semester should be ok on that work schedule but the second semester it gets real hard. So I am not sure that even have it in me.... we will see what happens.

JCCC Part 2
Well the interview went GREAT. I would like to predict that Ill get in this time. I know that they are only interviewing 110 and they take 55. So 50/50 weather I get in. The interview had almost all the same questions that were given last semester. E-mail me if you would like to discuss the questions. Good luck everyone. John.

JCCC Part 2
as far as the interview goes it went very smoothly. you will sit with someone 1 on 1 and they will ask you mostly common sense question. for instance, "you have an important family event scheduled on the same day as an important exam. what do you do?" dont go for the obvious. dont just say, take the exam.....explain how you would have prioritized this in advance. if they change exam to paper then say how you would have prioritized this long before hand so that this would not be an issue. i am sure you understand. dont be nervous!! its really not very stressfull at all. i spoke with the rn program and they said that notifications should be coming out the end of this month to the first week or two of march. i am sure it will be soon. they have also corrected the problem they had last semester year and will only be interviewing 110 people. you do not automatically get an interview anymore and you must have your cna on application deadline. good luck. john k. MA's Calling themselves Nurses
I was informed the MA's are not state regulated and that all their training is OJT. And yes the meds she gave my daughter were actually Immunizations.

MA's Calling themselves Nurses
this is my second year trying to get into nursing school and it just chaps my butt when i go to my daughters md and the ma's call themselves nurses. i mean i am now finished will all my prereqs and these ladies, who are probably good ma's don't have to have anything but ojt. and also are there limitations on what an ma can do. i took my daughter to get some shots and i was surprised when the ma administered them. can she do that?

JCCC Nursing Program
I Am also going to apply at KCK and Penn Valley. I have already talked to KCK they said that they fill up the first 45 spots with Wyandot and levenworth county and the last five spots they take from all other counties (johnson) they said that the highest GPA from out side those counties was a 3.2...........so I am sure my 3.7 will get me in...lol Good luck let me know how how it goes...

TWU/TCU Clinical Sites
So then how does that work. For instance, one day I hope to apply to TWU and if I were to get accepted (yea right) do I have a say where I do clinicals. I have a wife and kids. Do I do the class room portion and then expect to move the whole family to the clinical site or are they pretty fair about giving ou the same generall area if you have a family. Harlingen, Texas is just a hop away from Corpus.....good times...!

CRNA reject... NP school here we come?
I may not have any business posting this but I would like to just ask a question. From my research into what kind of nurse I ultimately want to be I have found that CRNA's have more independence and are not required to be supervised by an MDA. However NP's are supervised by MD's. Could this be the main reason for the pay difference. It seems to me that if I were a hospital hiring, that it would make more sence to hire 2 CRNA's over 1 MDA. And the job expectations are equal. Does that make sence.......its late...lol

TWU/TCU Clinical Sites
This may be a silly question. Not being in a CRNA or any Nursing program (interviewed last thurs), what do you mean by clinical site, other than thats where you do your clinicals. You have to apply for the site seperate from the CRNA program that your in?....I am confused. I assumed that when you got accepted that the school just sends you to the nearest student hosp to do clinicals. Thanks

JCCC Nursing Program
My interview is on thursday @ 8am. Was the "what qualities" question the one that stumped you? I can see how that one would be hard. I personally think that the question about the alcohal and the pain medication would be a harder question. Because I have always been the type of person to want to approach someone about problems but I think in that case you would have to go straight to the supervisor. At least thats what I say now...but wait till I am actually sitting in front of someone...lol Did they give you an idea of when we should be hearing back. Thanks John [email protected]
