I agree with CoronaPeng in that it is much safer to place a PIcc than to have the DR place a subclavian. I once did a Picc on someone whose Platelets were 1----I had only been doing Piccs for about 6 months and I was nervous. I had a closure patch---a collagen patch used in post caths sometimes. It was awesome ----she hardly oozed at all. I checked her picc frequently the next 2 days and it was remarkable. So don't panic if they have low platelets. The highest INR I ever placed a picc in was 8 and that pt did fine. See Ya:twocents:
Hi, Bard has an online course that is wonderful. After completion you will have to do on the jo training. I think piccs are hard to learn but after you do a couple of hundred--they become much easier. I can't imagine doing anything else. See ya
Hi, I have been doing piccs 2 years and I took an online course thru Bard and it was wonderful. You print off a copy at the end to show you pass the test. It cost 50 dollars but is well worth the time. You will have to call a Bard representative to get the password because it changes every month. Let me know if I can help in any way. See ya----Penny
