  1. Mobile, AL approx 300 beds Currently, I am the only PICC cert. RN and I place PICCs with U/S using Modified Seldinger Technique. I place about 25 PICC a week. When I am off, the radiologist places the PICCs. And boy do they fuss! They would prefer I not have an off day. Our RN PICC program is only about 6 months old. We have three more nurses about to be trained and then we will actively seek out PICCs to be placed. I estimate we can do between 5-10 daily.
  2. As a Registered Nurse placing PICCs at bedside, how high is too high for an INR? At what point do you refer the patient to the radiologist?
  3. I have been using U/S for PICC placement for about 4 months now. I think it is great. I have a 90% access rate up to this point. Most of the ones I missed the radiologist also cannot access. One radiologist now doesn't attempt if I cannot get a vein.
  4. Mobile, AL My hospital pays $2.50/hr extra for 3-11 and 11-7.
