  2. Hello all, I will be migrating to South Australia on a 3-yr work permit (They call it skilled-regional sponsored visa-475). I am basically an IT person looking for a career change in Nursing. I am planning to look for jobs like "nurse aide" or "patient care assistant" where they do not necessary require a nursing degree. After working for approx 2 yrs, I'll be pursuing for a BSN Anyway, I ran into the so-called " job shadowing experience" in the Flinders Medical Center website(which seems attractive) but they replied by saying "Unfortunately Flinders Medical Centre is unable to facilitate a nursing job shadowing experience due to the overwhelming numbers of applicants of nursing students for clinical placements." My question is : 1. Is it possible to get a "nursing job shadowing experience" job that doesn't require a degree? If so, where? 2. If it is nearly impossible, would you advise me to be an enrolled nurse first? I searched for enrolled nurse diploma program at Flinders U, U of Adelaide and U of S. Australia, but they only offer Bachelor of Nursing. Did I miss out something? Do we have enrolled nurse program in S. Australia? I am still very new to S. Australia and the nursing program/jobs there. So, Any advice would be be much appreciated! Thanks, have a nice day!
  3. Thank you dar15 :) I'm not a nurse. But I am always amazed by my mom's friend, who is a nurse in australia :) She is so much happy and proud with her career I have already had my degree in computer science... and doing some coding/IT support work in my home country.. It's not really my favourite and (yeah , i know) it's totally unrelated to nursing. I've been thinking of switching a career path... I volunteered to be a patient care assistant in a hospital before. I am interested in getting a BSN in australia... well, tuition can be very costly for international students:( .. so i'm looking into Shafston College, or other univs that have cheaper tuition Anyway, I appreciate your information. Thank you! Have a nice day :)
  4. Hello, I happened to come across this post, do you know which institute that offers 12 months Enrolled Nursing course ? Does it accredited ? Thanks a bunches
  5. I have been told a lot about visa retrogression but I'm still a bit confused. Some said only PIC & Mexico are affected. Some said all countries are affected. Which one is true??
  6. Hello All, I have not completed any of the nursing pre-reqs. I'm thinking seriously to apply to TVCC in Fall08, take the pre-reqs, then apply for ADN My question is : 1. Since I didn;t have any pre-reqs completed yet. How long will it take for me to complete it ? 2. TVCC only accept admission each Fall. Deadline is Jan 31. That means it will take at least 2 semesters to complete pre-reqs before getting into ADN program ??? if so, it will take like 3 yrs to complete a degree For example : Fall 08 : completed pre-reqs before Jan 31 : submit application Spring 09 : take more Gen Eds or co-reqs Fall 09 : start ADN (if admitted) 3. Admission is based on point system. Does it really hard to get into it? 4. Do they acccept international students into ADN ? or maybe i should give them a call? Thank you very much!
