Online site for Approved CEU in California
Sup everyone, Just wondering what are some good sites to get my CEUs for my LVN license in California. This is my 2nd license renewal, but first time having to do CEUs. I checked out the BVNPT site and found this link: http://www.bvnpt.ca.gov/education/schools/vn_ce_providers.shtml However, all of these seem like you have to actually attend classes. Cant you do CEUs online? I work fulltime and have family obligations, so attending classes in person is a last resort. Thanks in advance. Oh yea, I think you're suppose to do 30 CEUs...is there a difference between CEUs and contact hours? Or is it the same thing? Any help is appreciated. THANKS!!!

Anyone ever (or presently) work for Maxim in SoCal
Thanks everyone. No one is really hiring right now, as least not LVNs. And the ones that do want lots of experience.

Has anyone ever worked for or are currently working for Maxim? If so, would you please give your opinion on it? What's your experience like? They say their employees are their greatest asset, but how do they really treat you? Do they train? Is there support? High turnover? Thanks.

Faulted by aides who want help with incontinence care
From my experience. The noc aides are normally lazy and try to get away from alotta things. Its no wonder the AM shift gets mad at them everyday. If you see them sitting around, I would 'joke' around with them and tell them you smell something. Also at the start of your shift, have a quick meeting with them and telling them what your expectations are. Let them know you will be willing to help out, but that you have other duties as well and you EXPECT them to pull their weight. good luck.

CEUs for CA LVN (please help)
Hi. I hope someone can help me. I tried looking up the info on the BVNPT board for Cali, but found little help. I also tried calling them, but they've disconnected the ext and when I try to dial a separate ext, the wait time is over 20 minutes. I'm sure someone here may know the answer. I recently renewed my license and since it was the first time, I didn't have to have any CEU. However, I want to get a head start on my next renewal by taking some CEU courses now, so that I don't have to cram at the last minute. The site says the classes can be "prerequisite to or part of a registered nursing program". Sorry, if this sounds, dumb, but do you have to be accepted in the RN program? Or no? How do you keep a record of the CEUs? Just by transcript? Or do you ask the school for some type of thing that shows it was for CEU? If so, do you get this ahead of time or after the course is over. The site also talks about "Continuing education courses approved by nursing licensing agencies of this or of other states" Are these nursing licensing agencies online companies? If so, where can I find these approved nursing licensing agencies? I havent decided whether or not to pursue my RN yet, so these other courses provided by the nursing licensing agencies are very appealling and interesting to me. Here's some of those courses: Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) & Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Addiction Aging Anxiety Autism Behavior Management Sorry for these dumb questions. Again, this is my first time dealing with CEUs. Any help is truly appreciated. :)

OKAY...turns out its not assisted living, but SNF. I'm on my feet all day and sooo tired. I'm being trained by a LVN who's had 20 yrs experience...... I hope I can hang in there.....there seems like soo much to do.

Thanks but i'm still nervous. During the interview, she mentioned that she was in awww that some nurses actually graduated. I'm a quick learner, but it has to be thru repetition.....and again, its been a while since I've done anything in nursing. Just been doing office/billing work.

since I graduated and I'm finally starting my nursing career. Passed boards 2 months ago and finallly got a call back and a job offer. I'll be working at an assisted living facility. Any tips for me before I start? Its been pretty long since clinicals. Right now, I'm reviewing meds (list the school gave us), and watching videos of different injections. I'm pretty nervous. What skills should I be reviewing? I don't want to look like a fool at my new job. Or am I overreacting? She said she'll train me (the DON)....but I'll be on probation for 3 months. Help? Thanks.

Please recommend me the best LVN NCLEX review book
Thanks everyone for their help. I guess I'll be using the Saunders through our school. I also went out and bout the Kaplan strategy book. Is there a KAPLAN book full of questions??? Borders didn't have any. I'll probably go out and buy Lippencott and borrow my friend's Incredibly Made Easy...... Wish these books didn't cost soo much....

That's out there. Our school uses the Orange Saunders one, but I spoke with alot of former students who just took the test and said that book didn't help them at all. My question is, whats the go to book for reviewing for this test? All help is appreciated.
