  4. Hi all, I have a small question...I am a new grad L&D nurse, and I love it, by the way. I was wondering what do all of you nurses say to your patients when you keave at the end of the shift, if they are undelivered. Also, what do you sya to the couples after they have delivered. I feel like I always say the same things to the couples. You know...Congrat and all that? Does anyone have anything more creative that they say? Thanks alot. Heather :)
  5. Thank you both so much. And so quickly a response:) I will defintiely purchase it! Heather
  6. Hello all you experienced nurses out there. I had my 3rd day today on my unit and I was hoping to see a birth today, and I definitely got that! I was present and did minor assisting for 5 deliveries. I am just feeling like, it is sooo much to learn, which I already know it is. To the point, I was wondering if any of you know of a small pocket reference guide for L&D nursing that wouyld guide me as far as clinical decision-making. Thank you. Heather
  7. this is great advice, and I thank you for that. I will post and let everyone know how it goes. Heather
  8. Thank you very much for your advice. I appreciate it and I will check it out. Heather
  9. I am having my pinning ceremony in a couple of weeks from my RN school. I am on the pinning committee and I am the closing speaker. I have been tossing ideas back and forth and I have realized that this was going to be more difficult than I thought. I am asking if any of you could give me some ideas on what to say to send our class out into our careers. Thank you so much for any help. Heather
  10. To all of the L&D nurses out there: One of my bigger concerns about this topic has always bothered me... I am going to be graduating this December, and I have accepted a full time night position as a GN -RN on the labor unit at my local hospital, and I wonder if they send these babies home regularly with mothers who they know are drug addicted. I hope that this is not the case, or is it so common that they just do it anyway? I am not sure if I will be able to forget about that baby when it goes home. I won't be able to not think that mom will be shooting up and passing out, while that little innocent baby is crying to be fed, changed, or just held by its mom. So, how do you experienced nurses come to terms with this if it is true what I am saying, or does child protective services get involved? Thanks for any help on this.. Heather :uhoh21:
  11. I foyu don't mind my asking....How much is tuition there? I have heard that it is very expensive. Thanks, Heather
  12. I see that someone has already done that for :kiss
  13. Nope. Thank you, I will do that now:) Heather
  14. Hi all!! I was wondering if any RNs here have taken the BSN nursing program online. If so, where did you go and how was the program? Does it transfer to say another college if you wanted to pursue your master's? Thank you for all of your help!!! Heather
