Ericenferno said it very well regarding clinicals. Also, you are also already an EMT or LPN or have experience to even enter the program. If you are an LPN already, you've had clinical experience and RNs and LPNs do basically the same things other than just a few things(i.e. IV Push, hanging blood) But you have to practice those things at home before the CPNE. And they're not going to pass you if you can't do them. - Trust me if you can get through all the Nursing Concepts and the CPNE you are a REAL RN!! It's far from easy! You really have to be competent.

Anybody out there graduate from Excelsior or preparing for CPNE now? I am just starting to prepare for the CPNE. I would SOOOOOOOOOOO appreciate ANY advice, tips, anything at all you could share with me. What are the most important things to focus on? Does everybody use a grid? Which testing sites are best? please help!!

I am in the Excelsior program now. I am at the end, I am just waiting to do the CPNE. (That's the clinical exam at the end, if you didn't know) I think it's a great way to go. Ofcourse it's not for everybody, not everyone can do it with no structured classes or no teacher checking behind them. But, if you have already done classes at home, I'd say go for it! My advice is not to use alot of those publishing companies(istudysmart, the college network, RUE) because it can get really expensive! You have to buy their courses and books, then pay for the test. Plus you have to pay the enrollment fee to Excelsior. - Once you pay the enrollment fee, Excelsior provides study guides for free. They aren't as in depth as the publishing companies, but they're free. - I'm not downing those companies, their materials are good, (I used them for 2 courses) it just gets expensive. It just all depends on your budget and how much help and guidance you need with studying. Hope that helps!

Is anyone out there preparing for the CPNE? Or recently pass it? I am just begining to prepare and I am really nervous! Any pointers? What tools are you guys/ did you guys use to prepare? Which testing site is best? Any tips or advice would be SOOOO appreciated!!! I have got to do this! I have been an LPN for 4 years, I have 3 kids and I want to give them the best life possible. I want to be able to pay for their college etc... You guys know what I'm saying!!! So, from one nurse to another, please help!!!!!

I am just beginning to prepare for CPNE. I usually don't get nervous about things, but I am REALLY nervous about this! How are you guys preparing, what tools are you using? Where are you testing? Do you know any one personally who has passed? What do they say? Is everyone using a grid? It scares me because I see people who post who have failed the CPNE even though they have a ton of clinical experience, even in acute care. I don't know what the MAIN focus should be. Anybody want to share?
