Undergrad GPA-2.67(20 yrs ago), 17 hrs graduate(adv.pharm&patho,stats,research,etc)-3.76, 13 hrs additional recent undergrad-4.0. 1.5 yrs old ICU experience, 1yr current cvicu, 20 yrs total nursing. GRE-1070, CCRN,ACLS,PALS. Wound care committee, preceptor committee(have precepted senior nursing student in cvicu),clinical ladder nurse for @5 yrs, have been adjunct faculty(clinical nursing instructor) for 2 major univ. Have shadowed Crna's many times(worked PACU 11years)

I got my invite yesterday.

I talked with the sec. last week and she said letters should go out next Tuesday. Invites will be for the top 50, and the class size is 23.

iIdidn't have any clinical questions last year. It was very laid back and everyone was very nice. I was only asked the ususal, why anesthesia?, how have you prepared, etc.

Last year interview invites came around Thanksgiving and interviews were held the first week of Jan. in Montgomery. Good luck!

First of all, NEVER give up if it's something you really want to do. I was in a similar situation(undergrad=2.67, almost 20 years ago). I met with an ad com member and told her my concerns. Obviously I can't go back and fix my GPA from so long ago. I had already taken several hours of Grad classes, which showed I was able and serious. I have since taken 17 hrs of Graduate classes(3.87), and 23hrs of undergrad(4.0). (I got carried away and really was enjoying them, plus the Grad hours were core classes for my "plan B" degree, just in case). I made alternate last year and am hoping to get in this go around. I say go for it. Persistance and determination are hard to overlook.

Have you taken a stats class? What you have listed looks good. What component will you be appplying to? I'm applying to the Montgomery comp.

The decision is yours to make. I personally have always leaned towards the idea of getting an APN, but until the last couple of years I didn't really know specifically in what. After soul searching and prayer, I asked God if this was the right path then let it work it's way to fruition, if not, then take away my interest and throw up a big wall. Now, all I think about is becoming a CRNA. I can't imagine doing anything else. It's all I think about. I am constantly on this site reading about everyone and also looking at the CRNA school web pages that I"m interested in, to see if anything has changed. Sure, I have my insecurities about can I do it, or am I smart enough. But, somewhere deep down, I know I can if given the chance. Don't get me wrong, I'm also doing things to make me more competitive. I've had to go back and take classes to pull up my undergrad GPA. Good luck to you in whatever you decide! God bless!!!

Hey CCUROB, sorry to hear you didn't make it either. I talked with the sec. today and she said if you don't have at least a 3.3 GPA (Math/Science + last 60 /2), you won't get an interview. I just barely missed it.

I received a letter yesterday.

I'm still waiting to hear from UAB as well. I heard letters wouldn't go out until the end of the month.
