For All Nursing Instructors
I don't care if you have been a Nurse before the earth was created. If you have a history of students not liking you, because your rude, its you. If your students are afraid to approach you, because you tend to humiliate them, its you. If you cannot keep certain things private about students, who have given you personal information. you have a serious problem. If you like egging on students, to confront other students about something they told you in private, you have a problem. If you find joy humilitating students in front of others, you need to see a pychiatrist for observation. TO ALL NURSING INSTRUCTORS IF THIS IS YOU. HERE IS A PRESCRIPTION YOU NEED TO FILL (STAT) You need to write a letter of resignation quickly, have it legally notorized. Run dont walk, to administration hand it in. Then take your old yellowing RN license with any bootleg teaching creditionals, and burn them. Then check yourself into a nursing home. Hopefully one that has a shortage of CNAs. On the other hand if you are kind, approachable, helpful. If you treat your students with dignity and respect, your badly needed. There are times to be srtict and firm that is understood and respected. Students want to learn in a positive upbuilding enviroment. Two thumbs up for good level headed instructors.

Anyone 40 Or Older Starting A Lvn Program??
Wish I was standing in your shoes. Its funny Now at 45 I am wondering what the heck I was thinking when I was younger. All I thought about ?? well you can imagine, boyfriends, clubs, my nails, hair, parties, my car, shopping, sqeezing into a size 5. A faithful Lane Bryant customer now, thank you very much. If I only knew then what I know now. Oh boy, brings tears to my eyes.

Anyone attends Imed Academy in San Jose?
Hi, you might want to go to the voctional nursing official website bvnpt. you can check out the passing rate for that school. If Iam correct, they have a very low passing rate when it comes to taking the nclex exam. I worked with someone who is attending IME and they are not very happy with the school. I called the school and ask why they have a low passing rate, gave me some lame excuse of how they are going to help solve the problem. Be careful because it seems some schools are opening because of the money they can make. A nurse I know left her job to open a lvn school. over 20,000 per student!!! Western career 41,000. check out Boston Reed, they seem to have a higher pass rate. hope this helps a little. I was looking for a school in the bay area. But got accepted at Visalia adult school program. tution 2900 dollars.

Unitek College LVN program... good or Bad??
HI, JANET, just saying hi from fellow santa cruzen.
-
to all those researching LVN schools--here are my findings and opinons
Hi, Did You Check Boston Reed. They Have In House Financing. No Credit Check(i Think) Just Scedule Payments, Every Three Months. Their Program In Martinez,ca Is A Fri,sat Class, And It Is Cheaper Than The Rest. It Also Has A Very High Pass Rate According To The Ca Board Of Vocational Nursing, I Think It Was 90 Or 100% Pass Rate In Martinez. Check It Out Bye

anyone out there that has gone to visalia adult school lvn program? HELP
I cannot believe someone actually got in the program and walked away and quit.(OH MY GOD!!!) In your last post did you mean they kinda frown on ones who plan to work and go to school? How long was the whole interview? is there anyone in your class that you can't believe they let into the program? if by some mighty act of God I get chosen, what is the one subject, that you would say I should get a head start studying up on. Are most of your classmates cnas? the class is m-f 8-4 right? what is the farthest distance any of your classmates travel for this program? How did you feel after your interview? did you feel you were pretty sure you made it. If you don't mind, were you working in the medical field before this program? I am going crazy asking questions, I just really want to be accepted into the program. anything you can remember helps..

About to start CNA classes, I NEED HELP
Just to let you know the ones who failed on the skills part either did not check the pt ID band, also a few did not pass vitals, make sure when you take vitals you count for a full minute!!! if you only count for 30 sec and times it times 2 you may fail. someone did that and failed skills. also be able to explain how you performed these six principles of patient care.( dignity, safety, communication, infection control, independance, privacy) one person could not explain how they provided independance to the pt, they failed for that. I am not trying to scare you, It may be a bit different where you are, maybe not as picky. I also noticed and was shocked, the way you learn skills in the book, and the proper way to do things are sometimes not the way it is being done in reality at the nursing home.for your test just follow the book, remember to perform the six principles of pt care on each skill, if you get nervous in the middle of doing a skill for red cross, just stop, take a minute, think and proceed. I had to do that a few times, because it is nerve racking. make new friends and enjoy the adventure!!!

considering dropping one...
I understand how you feel. I also am pursing nursing, I wanted to take as many pre-reqs as I could, to hurry and get on the waiting list for the RN prgram, because the waiting list went from a two year wait to now a 3 year or longer wait, anyway I got so overwhelmed I dropped everything. (Math kicked my butt )Now a year or so later, Ive decided to take it one class at at time if I have to. dont give up on your journey, drop a class and continue to get as much out of the one your still in. by the way your not old, I just completed a cna class, and some of the stuff we learned I had to study alot harder and longer than my younger classmates. But I surprisingly saw that I had an advantage over them during clinicals, being older, having children, just life experience helped alot, really having empathy, fellowfeeling for people, understanding devestating things in life people go through, physically and mentally, you cant learn that in a book. So never feel like your to old, you have a really big advantage. I am not putting younger ones down, I think its great so they are pursuing nursing.(i wish i had, when i was younger) but there is something to be said for comforting older mature nurses. I have a few relatives who are really young RNs, the only pain they have had in there ln life, is cramps, and stress on how to spend their enormous paychecks .( just made myself laugh) anyway thats my 5 cent worth.
