okay, thanks for your reply...............i appreciate your kindness and let me explain.........i live in indiana, here when you sign an application for employment, it says that the potential employer can because you're signing the appl. and you must sign it or answer lots of questions, that you are giving your permission to ask them anything about you..........no choice about that,,,,,secondly this is indiana, right to work state,,,,,,,which means NO rights for workers, it's all employer rights,... and regarding the firing after hiring r/t the criminal misdemeanor(theft), the new employer signs you up for orientation you do that w/in the first week or so, and they don't send out the background check til you' ve been there for about a week, i guess they do that after or because it must be mailed, so anyway, that comes back, next thing.....fired.........i have learned not to even include my last employment anymore, which gives me 2 months experience as a nurse.....i can live w/ that, also, the disregard for pt. care were the med. errors, even though they disregard pt. care everyday by short staffing and forcing you to work overtime(threatened w/ job abandonment if you don't stay)....remember this is indiana, so ther are the reasons i am having sucah a bad time w/ hiring, i am a good nurse, and i care, but i don't know what else to do.....thanks for trying to help....i am really under the gun at home.......thanks again..vicki

dan, i know a lot of nurses, and everyone who got that score passed, the one;s that didn' t were in the 120,s and 140's 85 means you showed you knew whwt you were doing w/ more than 50 % accuracy.........anjoy your hard work.........and don't go to long term care if you want to enjoy yor career.............again.........congrats......vicki

well i am an lpn w/ a criminal misdemeanor theft conviction, i was in a horrible marriage at the time, i wanted to die, i made some financial mistakes and because of that my husband wouldn';t talk to me for 4 years, he was always gone doing his thing, i worked 2 jobs most times to pay for my lawyer, went to court alone, told no one about this , and suffered thru it alone, then i was taking care of my mom for 8 years before she died and found my calling. the problem is........at this time, iwas fired 2 weeks ago from my job r/t to "disregard for pt. care", i can't have new potential employers call them, because of the firing, i was working mega overtime and the last 3 weeks i worked made several med errors, nothing major, but there were 3, i had never been written up for anything else in the 10 months i worked there, but now when prospective employers call, they give me a bad reference, and i have only been a nurse for a year, so i have to include this on my application, also i have a misdemeanor theft charge from 1997, so even if i get hired, they do a backgriund check and i am fired about a week later.........i don't know what to do, i have to get a job....my husband, the same one, is getting mad, of course i don't tell him any of this, he would just look at me in disgust again. please tell me what to do, is there any way i can get a job????????.......i feel like such a terrible person......i love my patients, and i would never again take anything that wasn't mine, but no one will give me a chance first due to the firing, then the record.....i'm devastated, and time is running out r/t to my not having a job.......it will all come crashing down soon..............please help.........anybody..........

i'm so sorry to live here, indiana doesn' t care about their nurses, it's a wonder any of us have licenses with the way we're expected to work......and the poor patients, .....but it's more important for the corporations to turn a buck than for grandma and grandpa to have adequate and timely care .....when will the legislators care about these constituents? we can only hope what comes around, goes around.......

is there no union that would want lpn's as a part of their bargaining unit, seems to me there are bills of rights for rn's and unions for rn's , but nothing for us second class citizen lpn's.............any answers out there?????

that nurse was right to quit, almost all ltc facilities are like that one, and the administration could care less, you're just a body to fill a slot, no wonder nurses are leaving the profession left and right.

i agree w/ you r/t the fact that these splinter unions should all get together and unite, nurses are treated w/ no respect and management can do or say anything they wish, and you have no recourse, and it could cost your license, when will we wise up, support each other and get together to make our nursing licenses safe, and not the property of some DON who doesn't like being questioned or who is so far out of the midstream of nursing and caring for patients they don't have a clue about the real world of nursing. please, stand up for your fellow nurses, if you see a wrong being done by management, work somewhere else and tell them as you go out the door, it will eventually roll down to you.

i have been an lpn for 1 year now, i love the patient care aspect of it, and have been working ltc for the year, BUT, first of all, the DON's at ltc facilities act as if they have no idea what it's like to work the floor, and have no understanding or care about the short staffing problems that are a danger to residents....i also have a misdemeanor theft charge from 1997, it is hard to find jobs where they don't check your background, i am a different person than i was then ,and was only that person for a moment r/t to a horrible marriage, i just didn't care about anything, nevertheless, is there anything i can do that would be more administrative in function, any other kinds of work an lpn can do besides ltc, i intend to get my rn online but for now i must work somwehere, does anyone have any suggestions? are there any other sectors open to an lpn? and believe me i would never repeat my past and my employers have never had reason to worry about my honesty on the job...please help............thank you
