  1. Hi, You messaged me regarding what I found for Australia. I am unable to send emails right now so this is the only way I can respond to you. I didnt want you to think that I was ignoring your message. I did contact a TON of ppl out there regarding post graduation. They basically told me the same thing. Basically it be very wise to wait atleast a year before doing it. It is not like here in the US where you can get hired on before graduation. You need to enter a post graudation position which is almost like another school. They train you and u take classes, which ppl precep. It is competitive to get into and they actually turn alot of nurses away because of it. Also, the license thing is a little complicated. You need to transfer your before you even start that process. SO, I decided that a 1/1.5 years experience would be the best thing to do before heading out there. This way you can get in with an agency who will place you at a hospital and you can move around the country and work. The agencies require a year experince to join. I also was not able to go out there to visit. Things in my life changed recently so it was not possible. I hope this helps you out. If you have an questions about anything, please feel free to ask! Good luck with your school!!!!
  2. I was going to start the application process and everything after I passed my US boards. I looked on the NMB site and it says talks about the US and the education/license. Eligiblity for registration in NSW would be granted once I pass my boards after graduation. I guess that is the first step. I am confused about the visa and which type to get. Would it be the holiday or like the business one? I am also in the process of talking to hospitals in Australia about their new graduate programs. Do you have any information about those and if that could be an option for me? Is my understanding of the process so far correct? Thank you for the information you have provided and for answering all my questions!!!
  3. Thank you so much. You are a lifesaver. That would of taken me forever to find that link! I will be heading to Sydney in May to check things out so maybe I can met with a few hospitals to see if they accept overseas new graduate. Thank you again
  4. Thank you for your reply. I didnt realize how hard this would be. People have told me it would be easy to get a job as a nurse in Australia because of the demand. How would you suggest finding the new grad programs in Sydney?
  5. Hi, I am currently in my last year of nursing school at Arizona State University. I will graudate in December 2008 with a Bachelor's degree. I take my boards in Jan. 2009. I plan on moving to Sydney right after passing my state boards. I was wondering if I will be able to find a job in Sydney since I will be a new graduate without any experience besides rotations through school. I plan on applying for a Holiday Work Visa and more than likely get a permanet visa once I am established over there. I guess my question is regarding how to find a job there without any experience. Is it possible? Should I go through an agency and if so, which one? Thank for to everyone who replies. I appreciate everyone taking the time to read this. Thank you Holly
  6. Thank you so much for all the information you have provided for me. This helps me out so much. It seems like the school does not tell you what you want to know. I cant tell you how much I appreciate it. Good luck with the rest of your school and on the NCLEX!!!!
  7. Hi Everyone, I will be starting my second semester of four at ASU for nursing. After this semester I will be half way done and graduate in 08. No one can answer any of my questions and if they do, the answers are all different. I was wondering how long it takes from when you graduate to take the NECLEX? I have heard four months? How long does it take to get the results of the test and licenses if you pass? Does anyone know if 23-25 dollars an hour sound right for new graduate nurses? Finally, will I be able t find a job eventhough I have not taken my NECLEX? I am worried that I will graduate and have to wait months before I can get a job if the licensure takes that long to get in, take, pass, graded and received. I just want to know that if I stay in this state of AZ that it will be worth it. I want to move to Colorado but I have heard bad things about finding a job as a new graudate. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and reply!! I really do appreciate it!!
