  1. hey! i was just wondering if having good grades, doing a lot of volunteer things, and running your nursing club in college will help you get an edge when looking for jobs? do you know if they ever actually look at that stuff? thanks!
  2. i have been doing research for nearly a year now about oahu. im moving here in may and it seems like unless your a local or know someone who can get you in your %^$^ outta luck. i got a tip on an internal announcement for one hospital and called. here was the "recruiters" answer. oh your from the mainland? well that announcement has already had some applicants... you can go ahead and put an application in though... so much for the shortage. how are we supposed to get work if they only take ppl with experience and we cant get any so frustrated right now
  3. ugh.. what a nightmare. i knew this would be a problem i just knew it! i know i am so lucky that i get to live in hawaii for a year but this is making it really suck

  6. ill be graduating in may of 08 from purdue and will be moving to hawaii for a year. is anyone graduating around that time? when do you take the nclex and how confident are you that you will be able to get a job? i am freaking out that ill get out there too late and all the grad positions will be taken!! help!!
  7. i am freaking out about this as well. i graduate from purdue in may and am moving to oahu right after. i will be taking the nclex in hawaii and will have no experiance. i will really really need to get a job at that point! four years of school and not much money coming in! any advice from anyone on the easiest way to get my foot in the door. also can you start working before you take the nclex anywhere and what would i be doing. i know at home you can become a glorified tech and do everything but pass the actual medication. freaking out!
  8. ok so here is my goofy situation. going to purdue in indiana graduating in may of 08 then moving to hawaii for one year to be with hubby in the air force. i would like to spend as much time there as i can and am thinking about taking the nclex in hi. my questions are.. would it be easier for me to just wait and do it in indiana and transfer lisences later. can you take the nclex and be lisenced in more then one state at a time? and in hawaii can i work as a graduate nurse with a degree from purdue before i get my actual license?? so many questions! thanks guys!
