Q about Nursing School credit hours
At my university, credit hours are very deceiving. The clinical hours and lab time aren't factored in. We actually spend 29 hours including nursing classes, just in the nursing program. If it helps, my nursing classes only account ON PAPER for 9 hours this semester. I took organic chem and a&p2 along with my 2 nursing classes. I am married, have 3 kids and a part time job. It can be done. But let's just say I'll never take 4 classes again :chuckle But I do have 3 classes to take each semester until I graduate. The norm at my university is the 2 nursing classes with a co-req like pathophysiology or micro. As far as financial aid...yes, you can get money for less than 12 hours, but for those of us who need that extra money for day care, it CAN'T be done with part time financial aid. I get an extra 1600-1700 just for assistance with bills at daycare and such by carrying 12+ credit hours.

Not enough time to finish my Chemistry test!
I know in my chem class, about 1/3 the class (out of 100 students) don't finish their tests. They've talked to him and it's a no go! In his opinion, chemistry is a "mastered" skill and if practiced enough, you should fly through the problems. (insert my rolling eyes here). The only thing I can say is do homework problems every night. I've taken two chem classes and in organic chem this semester. The first chem class I took, I passed by the skin of my orifice! And it was mostly b/c of the lost points from not completing the entire test. Chem stinks! It is by far the worst subject I've ever took part in :chuckle Thank goodness I don't need anymore chem the REST of my life after this semester! Good luck on the next test! :)

The opposite of nursing????
We have an assigment to write our response to the question "What is the opposite of nursing, in your opinion" How would you all answer this? I'm not sure where to go with this. Would you compare nursing to other professions or just list the opposite qualities of nursing? I know there's no right or wrong on this, but I'm lost on where to go with this! One of my friends in my class is writing on how she believes that doctors are the opposite of nursing. It's a great concept but I can't take her idea and go with it. KWIM? Any ideas would be VERY appreciated! :)

Physical Assessment lab sign off?
Thanks ladies, I guess I just have stage fright. I am prepared and praticed as far as the assessment goes, I just get wigged out with them saying "no, I can't find the S2 there, are you sure you found it there?" type junk! At our program they double check to see that we've found each area of the anterior thorax sounds (vesicular, etc..) and then the atrial, pulmonary, erbs point, etc. .and which heart sounds are louder, then they get their steth out and check too. Its just a very intimidating process is my only defense for being nervous! LOL Nikki, we can't even have a piece of scratch paper! If I had some cues, that'd be cool, but they're not even going to cough if we miss something, they just put "unsatisfactory" ! Ack! Oh well, I'm gonna get through this, I have no choice! :) Thanks for cheering me on! I'm sure it's not near as hard as I perceive it to be. Esp. since I'm prepared, right? :chuckle

Physical Assessment lab sign off?
We have to do lab sign offs for our complete physical assess. (head to toe) withOUT any flow sheet at all! Has anyone lived through this experience! :chuckle I'm about to wet myself thinking of someone standing there, glaring at me, listening to the heart sounds with me, making sure I check the head, eyes, etc.. We have to do the neuromotor, heart sounds, lung sounds, find all peripheal pulses, etc.. Anyone have any "tricks" on how to get through this and remember everything without a check off list? :imbar I can do it to my friends, dh, kids, but the minute I get in front of our lab instructors I clam!

A&P2- what section first?
Good luck! I'm in A&P 2 this semester as well and personally, I really like it but I have an excellent professor! :) He makes understanding it so much easier! I actually got a 97% in A&P1 after being out of school for 12 yrs! That's a testiment to how good he is! :chuckle I made sure I got him for A&P 2! As far as systems, etc.. I think most profs do it different. I'm at a large university and we did the CNS, PNS, etc.. all in A&P 1. I don't have a clue on what we'd start with in A&P2. You'll do fine :)
