  1. i know midwestern doesn't require it. There are some school that may waive it based on yor GPA
  2. I'm planning on applying to a CRNA program this year. I have not taken GRE, however the school i'm applying to does not require that. I've been an ICU nurse for the past two years and i'm ready to move on. I have taking advance science classes like orgo , biochem and so on and have a GPA about 3.6 . The dilemna is that I have not taken my CCRN . It seems a lot of schools recommend. Has anyone gotten into a program without CCRN? What are my chances?
  3. I'm calling out once again. If anybody is interested in coming to serve with me in Ghana, West Africa , he/she should let me know. The trip is schedule for mid May to early June , 2008. You'll be responsible for tickets (got mine for $1400) and I'll find you a host. The harvest is plenty but the workers are few.... Also, if you have any nursing accessories that you would like to donate, please let me know. If you also want to help in anyway let me know.
  4. The trip will cost anywhere close to $3000. That incudes a round trip ticket (which is about 75% of the estimated cost) , transportation in Ghana and accomodation, that is , including food. If we find cheaper tickets, that will be awesome but as of now we're looking at ticket prices anywhere from $1900 and below. I've been in contact with a whole lot of medical facilities that will be honoured to have as work with them. As I indicated in my earlier post, I will be responsible for finding accomodation , transportation in Ghana and other necessities, and will also be your guide because I know my way around Ghana. Nobody gives me anything,we're working together as a team with one purpose. If anybody is still interested or if u have any questions, please PM me.

  6. I'm moving to illinois next year. I've been working at a Neuro ICU for one year. I was wondering of there are any hospitals in the chicago area or it's suburbs with good Neuro ICUs. I would also like to know nurse to patient ration on such units, pay, and maybe cost og living.
  7. I work in NC at a neuro ICU and planning to move to illinois (chicago and suburbs) early next year. What's the nurse to pt ratio. I do 1:2 now. Neuro pts are usually busy bit how busy is on ur end? Do you have CNAs to help?
  8. Sometime in May/June.
  9. To this i'll say kill two birds with one stone. Look out for buy-out clauses in the Saudi contract so that u may move down here when u get the chance. Good luck to whatever u decide to do.
  10. Got green? Congrats! Good luck to those waiting.
  11. Not so fast fellas. The fact that u've gotten your cards does'nt mean u shd vacate this forum. Your contributions will be very resourceful for for prospective greencard holders. Fillow the examples of Suzzane, Lawrence and co. They got thers and they stayed back to help. BTW congrats:balloons:
  12. I'm talking to hospitals in Ghana willing to host our volunteer team. Things we've been discussing includes but not limited to, the number of nursing coming, accomodation options and most importantly what we'll be doing there. I'll keep u updated.
  13. I am looking to start a group for nurses interested in volunteering in Africa. Myself being from Ghana ,Africa and a nurse, I know firsthand the need back home. So if you are interested in volunteering somewhere in Ghana or somewhere in thewestern africa region , then, let me know. I can do most of the homework as far as finding hospitals or clinics where we can volunteer , lodging, transport etc. I am planning on going to Africa next year. If anybody is willing to work with me just drop me an email or a private message. This will be a excellent cross-cultural experience , where one can learn about different cultures while doing what he/she is most passionate about. As I said, I can do most of the home work. I need people to assist me in this undertaking. Who knows? This might go on to be "Nurses without borders". There are several missions out there that mainly work in africa and we can affiliate with them too if it becomes neccessary. Looking forward to reading your response.

  16. Any nurses interested in a mission trip to west africa in 2008. If anyone of you is interested please send me a pm or email me. You can also ask question on this thread. Remember, the true definnition of our passion is realized when we make a difference in this world with our passion.
  17. This is really strange. I called the USCIS customer service today. I was told the TSC is processing I-485 for September 11th, 2006 and that there was nothing the could do; I just have to wait. As i already said, my priority date is September 13th and ppl with PD as late as November 2006 are getting their green cards. WHat's going on here? They said i should call back in 30 days if i dont hear anything. My lawyer doesnt wanna hear any of this. She doesnt believe that ppl with later PD have already gottn thiers. Now here is the question. Has anyone of u who had a PD within September 2006 and filed with texas yet to recieve an approval? So far all th approvals that i am seeing has PD later than september 2006.
  18. Yes, it does. I've always thought texas was one of the fastest. I need to find out what's wrong with my file b'cos i have a priority date as Sept 13th and still have'nt heard anything. Even if ones country plays a role, I am from Ghana and as such I should have gotten mine by now.
  19. Where did you file? Any got approal at texas service center?
  20. its not yet november. I take it you meant 2006. WHere did u file your papers?
  21. Just wondering where you all filed you papers. I filed mine with TSC with PD of Sept 13th. My I-140 was approved on sept 13th but Im still waiting. Could you please let me know if any of you filed with Texas Service Center so that I can follow up. Comparing the processing times for I-485, texas is behind compared to Nebraska and California, which might explain why I am still waiting.
