  1. ok, so as we all know, the nursing market really stinks right now. I am a brand-new nurse, passed the NCLEX on July 1st and have been job searching since then. I was just offered an Office Nurse position at an allergist, I am just so hesitant to take it. My dilemma is: the hours are going to be hard to work out with my kids and husband's work schedule and the pay is A LOT less than a hospital position (to be expected I guess). I just don't know what to do, I am afraid that if I accept the position, something else will come up, but if I turn down the position, I am afraid I may not get another offer for a while (I did recently go on another interview last week and am waiting to hear back from them) I am currently not working, so I need some kind of income. This office is a privately owned practice and they are looking for someone to stay long-term because of the training involved in learning to mix allergy serums, etc. I just don't want to go through the training process and find something else and have to leave the office. I don't know if I should just be happy to accept anything at this point. I am just really unsure how to work the hours with my family since my kids are still little. Please help me with some insight into my dilemma :)
  2. if you are in a sponsoring school district it is about $88 a credit. the nursing portion of the program is for 2 years. you do get the summer off. I will be starting the day program in the fall and the schedule seems pretty ok. we have one day off per week each semester. I don't know what the night classes are like. your best bet is to call the school or go to a nursing information session. Good Luck!
  3. thanks for your response, but I did get accepted to the Nursing program and I start in the Fall.
  4. hey-- I just got my letter today about orientation. First we have to go in on March 3rd and have a meeting with a career adviser who will help people schedule their classes. I will already have all of my pre-reqs done before nursing starts, but I guess they want to make sure that everyone is on the right track. They say to allot 3 hours for this meeting. Then the actual orientation is April 18th. It says the orientation is about 3 hours also. I am so excited, I can't wait to find out more information.
  5. xoyw01--Congratulations!!!:monkeydance:were you accepted to the Delaware county or chester county program??
  6. I'm in!!! I got my letter on Nov 1st. Delaware County Community College starting Fall 2008!!
  7. Delaware County
  8. i am sure you got in!! i could not believe my eyes when the letter came. I think they just closed the petitioning period on 10/26. It only took a week for them to decide. I think I have re-read it about 100 times just to make sure I was reading it right!! I think I am still in denial! So much for waiting until January.
  9. I just got my letter yesterday!!! I start Sept 2008!!! Yay for me!!
  10. did you get your letter yet for 2008? i didn't think it was going to come until january, but it came yesterday!!! I'm in!!!!
  11. With scores like that,I am sure you will get in. I have another test set up for Aug 13, this will be my last try. Hopefully, I can improve my score. I am kind of getting tired of sitting for the 3 hour test, I am too tired to drive home when I am done!! Good Luck
  12. Hi, I am new here. I am currently working on pre-reqs for the DCCC nursing program and will be applying for Fall 08. For those of you that are already in the program, can you give me an idea of what your NET scores were. I am very anxious. I didn't meet the criteria the first time, but I just got my scores back from my second try and I got 89% in math and 76% in reading and and 82% total comp score. I am going to take it one more time to see if I can improve those score, but I was wondering how everyone else did. Thanks, Tina
