I recently took a school tour of University Portland over my spring break and I fell in love with it. I'm a Jr. in high school and getting ready to apply for college shortly, University of Portland accepts applications starting September 1(only 4 months away) so I'm a little nervous. I have a weighted GPA of 3.75 and an unweighted GPA of 3.66. I'm a cheerleader, in concert band, in zero period leadership and am taking extra honors courses. I do extra hours of community serice for fun (I'm the Youth Mission Delivery Chair for my cities Relay for Life and am hoping to become an Oncology nurse when I graduate nursing school), but I'm still really nervous about getting into the University, my mind is always telling me I need to do better. Could any students or alumni ease my troubled mind and tell me more about the program and the school??? Also I don't really understand the process of getting into the School Of Nursing and I was wondering if anyone could explain it to me? :redbeatheThank you so much:redbeathe

Most def. Oncology! I'm heavily involved in the ACS Relay For Life...my first year I couldn't contain myself while wacthing the Luminary Ceremony(to be honest, I still can't). I saw all of the survivors walk their lap and saw all of the luminary bags lined up on the track and I suddenly realized that I want to help all of these people and their families. I remember during the ceremony a young lady(prob. about 25) holding onto a photo of her mother for dear life, sitting on the track crying in front of the bag with her moms picture on it. I also remember a little boy around 7, bald, purple survivor shirt and the biggest smile on his face in the 100 degree heat. He was the kindest little boy and he came up to me and asked me to help him open up his bubbles for him so he and his brother could play. I never would have known he had cancer if I didnt see the purple shirt! I may only be sixteen but I know, that's what I want to do.
