    Format for handwritten lab values

I have noticed that people write lab results in a "tree" or diagram format, not needing to put in what lab is what. Anyone have a copy of that as a "key" so that I can learn how to use that "tree" thingy and write my labs like that? I've tried to google...what is the format that people use to write their CBC's and electrolyte panels? I can't find it on google. It's like a diagram or something, then they just plug the values in different parts of the lined off areas... without having to write what value is what. Anyone that can help me out here, I'd be grateful! I've seen this format on kardexes and report sheets... but somehow the "key" has slipped my mind! I'm in a class with five gals and none of us know, but want to! Thanks!

Synthesis Paper topic... do you have any ideas?

My favorite system is respiratory; the fact that so many hospitals are using NCPAP on TINY patients fascinated me-- when I first started nursing, I was told these tiny infants didn't have the musculature to breathe on their own. And now they do, with the aid of NCPAP? I wonder if the early NCPAP really does anything to prevent BPD on ELBW infants. Bronchopulmonary dysplasia interests me, and I was thinking of doing something about prevention of BPD; there are some studies showing a link with vitamin A deficiency. I also wonder about the permissive hypercapnia-- is it really okay, or are we doing damage we haven't thought of?
  5. I'm at a blank. I'm in neonatal nurse practitioner school, and need to decide on a topic for my synthesis paper. It needs to be somewhat narrow (we were told congenital diaphragmatic hernia was too broad), but broad enough that I can find enough articles to write the paper-- I'm at a blank. Please help if you have any good ideas! Thanks!

May I ask my STUPID questions here?

Yes, peripheral art line. That's why I'm confused-- why is it okay through an umbilical artery, but not peripheral artery?

Thank you! I guess I'd just always assumed dextrose was one of those "safeish" meds to be put through an arterial line. He who assumes...well, you know!

No; I mean why can't you infuse like, D10 into a peripheral ARTERIAL line? THanks, though!

Why can't you infuse glucose into a peripheral arterial line? I should know this, I know. I've tried to google it and can't figure it out. Does it mess up the BP reading? Thanks!
