I live in the Quad Cities and can think of four BSN programs. There are two private schools in the area St. Ambrose (Davenport, Iowa) and Augustana (Rock Island, IL) that both have BSN programs. In addition there is an University of Illinois extension in Moline, IL that offers an online BSN program (uic.edu), and Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Rock Island, IL that has a Bachelors degree in nursing. You can recieve tuition reimbursement at Trinity college if you are employed at anyone of three Trinity hospitials. This is also an online degree (the school is private but alot cheaper than St. Ambrose and Augustana). If you have anymore questions pm me.

Post-Surgical/Orthopedics I chose to start on a broader area to gain experience for a few years and then figure out what I want to specialize in as a Nurse Practitioner. I actually started to enjoy the medical surgical floor because I started to learn more and I want to learn as much as possible.

hello everyone, i thought that i would post for all who have yet to take the nclex rn. i was terrified and stressed about passing the test, but i did some things that i feel really improved my confidence: 1. first, i prayed and asked the lord to help relieve my anxiety before i took the test. 2. i followed suzanne's recommendations and used saunders comprehensive (the only book that i would purchase). i did 3000 questions and read all of the rationales. 3. days before i took the test i would always tell myself i am going to pass this test and take it once, period. 4. i looked over the most common herbal drugs such as garlic, saw palmetto ect. 5. i took my time when i was taking the exam and continued to refocus and use the abc's and maslows. 6. i was shocked when i passed at 75 questions, but really doing a mix of saunders questions: go to: study mode, then cognitive level, then:analysis the nclex wants you to be able to critically think; you learned all this information in school, you just have to practice questions to learn how to apply it. you can do it!

I wanted to know if anyone has ever had a similar situation and how long it took to receive your temporary license. My application was sent to IDPR (Illinois Department of Professional Regulation) because I had a DUI seven years ago and had to write up a personal statement. It has been three weeks since they received my application and I was wondering if anyone has had something like this occur? How long did it take CTS (Continental testing Services) to issue you a temporary license? Thanks

yes, the questions do seem easy sometimes, but I would reinforce Suzanne's recommendation to read the rationale after the question. It is a great way to review and refresh the information that was learned in school. One thing that I did was click on the analysis section on the CD which mixes up all the questions. Other sections allow you to do this also, it is really nice to get a mix rather than focusing on a system at a time.

I have a total of 7500 in loans from an ADN program. The hospital I will be working at will pay for my BSN degree, I would not have it any other way. There are scholarships out there for nurses, and I received one from the Illinois department of public health. Money is out there to aid nurses to earn their degree and I would recommend everyone to take advantage of what is available.
