angeles institute and pacific college are great-angeles is fastest and most affordable, my daughter is going there, pass rate is much better than the board web page reflects, i went to pacific is was very good....good luck future nurse :)

I think you make several good points, and my tone was pretty harsh. My apologies to any readers. My point should have been made more respectfully-It's a very good school with some dedicated and hard working instructors, most of them work more than one job and have a genuine desire to mentor and teach. I was behaving like a grouchy pit bull. :bowingpur

not all of the private schools are accredited. some are just authorized as technical schools but do not award college credit. pacific is hands down the better school, also angeles institute in lakewood is really good. i have had two co workers that taught at stanbridge-past tense....they are good nurses felt they had to leave. i work at a facility where angeles does clinicals and there students are being well trained. i was a pacific student and they were good to me. work hard good luck. hope this helps.

you can call the board and speak to them in person. You may have to speed dial them a million times to get through, and when you do you will be on hold, BUT they will answer your questions. It is a self paced program. They assess your transcripts, and then you fill in the blanks...so as far as time, not longer than a standard class room situation, unless you desire to go slower. I love it, but unless you are good at self pacing and study it may not be right for you. If you are like me with a hectic schedule full of demands, it a gift to be able to chase my dream at my own speed, on my own schedule!

I guess the school "paid off some other nurses as well". Everyone is here to have an open discussion, you don't need to agree with me but I do take exception to anyone impuning my character or motives. I hope to teach nursing school one day, I think it would be a cool thing to share knowledge.....not there yet, I'm just a nurse with a work ethic, and a belief in working for what I want, and trying harder when it's hard. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but I will give it a good 99%. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

:angryfireI was reading this post as well as another.....have a little cheese with your whine. When was the last time you read your White book, or joined a study group. I was valedictorian, worked part time and have six kids from two to twentythree. I was frequently exhausted, but I worked hard, asked questions, showed up for class, and began becoming a NURSE. It was hard work. P.S. I did not cheat-I did the real way. Stop wasting time on this and read a book. This is a good school. Make the most of your opportunity. Some people don't get the chance to take advantage of the opportunity some of you are wasting.

Hello, I am a recent past student. It's a good program, challenging and full of information. I would like to say that all people have a voice in this forum........but my experience was not negative, and I am saddened by some of the other posts I am reading. It was a fair and well administered program. I am in my forties and have some life and work experience and from my vantage point the school was well worth my hard earned money. My instructors were caring, answered my questions, and if they did not know the answer on the spot they got back to me. I failed one test, and they reviewed the results with me, and based on the way that two questions were written, and my understanding of the material I was allowed to pass. This is a common educational practice. Speaking to the long hours and test taking etc......nursing is hard work, dealing with all types of people, cultures, long hours, fast paced, and wonderful!!!!!!! My favorite instructor was "ONLY" an LVN. Continuing education is my goal, but there is not substitute for hands on experience and my lowly LVN instructor had been a floor nurse for YEARS. Some of my other instructors were Nurse Practitioners, and one was a Doctor. Again, this is a free form forum and freedom of speech is great......I just wanted to weigh in with my opinion. I am happy I went to Pacific and my comments are not to invalidate anyone elses thoughts but it was a great choice for me and I would do it again. Good Luck!
